My Viper alarm is acting weird...
i have a viper 791xv 2 way alarm installed in my car. i dont know what happened but the range isnt far like it was use to. i cant even unlock my car from inside my house. also on the remote the icon shows that my car is unlocked but its locked. any ideas? has anything like this happen to you guys? could it be bad installation?
ok, the viper alarms has a antenna (receiver).it has to be in the windshield since it is the place to have more clearance for the 2 way. i think that for this model it has and antenna about 7 in. long. the best place to put it is behind the rear-view mirror. this is because there is no objects that may block connection, and in some cars it just blends in with the black thing that they stick into the windshield behind the mirror.
other things that may help=
1) wiring connections---soldering the connections is the most dependable
2)proper antenna mounting--- it should not be mounted under the dash or against metal
3)proper antenna routing--- the antenna wire has to be routed the best way possible.if the wire is to long do not make a "ball of wire" and hide it.if you do this it will loose range ability.
finally, yes i can be the way it was all connected make sure that who ever does your alarm set-up, is MECP certified. 2 way alarm is not the same as the simple alarm system
