Here are the rear bumpers that come on 6th gen Civics.
'96-'98 Civic coupe / sedan rear bumper
'99-'00 Civic coupe / sedan rear bumper
'96-'00 Civic hatch rear bumper
Differences between the '96-'98 coupe / sedan rear bumper and the '99-'00 coupe / sedan rear bumper can be seen here:

The rear bumpers are still interchangeable though. Hatch rear bumpers will not fit on coupes or sedans and coupe / sedan rear bumpers will not fit on hatches.
