Default Please help diagnose this noise....

When I pull off from stop or accelerate, I get a click noise coming from the wheels. It is just a sharp "click", almost like a chirp. It is not continuous. Just one or two clicks and it stops.

I know it is almost impossible to diagnose problems over the internet, but any help is appreciated.

Sounds like the anti-noise clips on your brake pads....maybe

I will check that. My pads (R4-S) are worn now, and will be replaced this week. Hopefully that is the problem.

Anybody, any more suggestions ?????

I get the same thing every now and then. It sounds like one or two clicks and then stops. If I stop and reverse it will click a couple more times. Almost sounds like the kind of click a bad CV joint would make, not real loud though. Not sure what it is yet. My pads are stock by the way with about 26K on them. Never been removed and they still have plenty of life yet. I hope it is not something on the pads.

I get the exact same noise! Always when pulling away from a light or when engine braking at slow speeds. I too have r4s pads but are only half worn. I hate to pull the axle only to find out that its something else.

David, I agree with "Sounds like the anti-noise clips on your brake pads".

I forgot to put the passenger side in a while back and I get the same noise.

Wow! You just described the exact noise I have that no one seemed to have had. I have a tuesday appointment at Acura to replace my axles. They heard the click/chirp noise and they believe it's the axles. They said after the axles they'll go from there. It doesn't click when turning, so I don't think it's axles. I have a post running around asking if it could be my LSD

Please post with your findings after to take it to Acura. I agree, it doesn't seem to be the typical cv joint click when turning.

R4S's do not have anti rattle clips. If you hear a metallic clacking type noise, it's probably the worn pad smacking the rotor. This should only happen at low speed, and is pretty normal.

Its probably just the brake pads just releasing from the rotor.
My brake pads make a lot of noise when coming to a stop from an extremely
slow speed.

The noise happens when under acceleration. So, if I am coasting at about 20mph then just accelerate, CHIRP

I'll put in new pads (hope it fixes problem) and wait for the other guy from NJ (above) to get results from the dealer.

Guys, thanks for your help.

I havent had this problem with the R, but the CRV had a remarkably similar sounding problem.

The culprit = defective front upper suspension bushings. Once replaced = no more clicking noise

90% chance that you have an axle on its way out, I know this from hybrid days. Trust me, I've replaced tons of axles in my day.

I just dropped it off. They gave me a base model RSX and will install the axles tomorrow morning. Then they'll go from there, if noise is still there.

Well, after 3 days Acura gives me back the R, and guess what it's fixed! I asked them what the problem was and thay said thay didn't know They pulled my axles to replace them, but mine were in perfect condition so they reinstalled them, and checked the vehicle again the noise was still there. So they lifted her back up and torqued everything up front to spec. and he said I mean everything, and when they took her out again problem solved. He told me to keep him posted, but he thinks I won't have this problem again. Sorry, but they said they have no idea what caused the noise, but after they torgued everything I can't get it to make the noise under any situation. Take it to Acura and have them torque everything and your problem will be solved. I think I caused the problem doing some fun runs at a auto-x where I did some extreme drifting, and the R hooked so hard that my helmet hit the drivers window a few times, because after that my door didn't open or close the same for a few days, then it went back to normal.
