Default Brake Master Cylinder...

Hey guys, curious to know which Brake Master Cylinders are the same as what's on an 88 EF Hatch, (HF)... I'm guessing all 88-91 EF Hatches, CRXs, and Sedans? Are any later model MS usable?

And where would be the best place to buy one, new or used...

My Brake pedal is rock hard stiff, and have to use alot of pressure to even get the pedal to budge, and when it does I can hear what sounds like AIR leaving and the RPMs fluctuate as if the car had a vacuum leak. The symptoms lead me to want to replace the Brake Booster Seal and Master Cylinder.

Thoughts and help is much appreciated.

TIA

Sounds like the booster not the MC, btw the EX sedans had larger MC

is your brake system stock? I run a 1" EX MC on my CRX as I have a Fastbrakes upgrade and needed the larger MC

when it comes to brakes, personally I don't want to depend on junkyard crap

I upgraded to DA brakes and had the same problem, used a prelude BB & MC, and a "I think" 40/35 Prop valve and all problems including massive fading went away. I'm parting my Rex cough cough...hahaha but honestly Junkyard is cheap and just get warrenty on them. Could always make the mark they make on your old BB/MC and get the your money back, but then again that is kind of stealing.

If it is the MC, and i'm not sure it is, go to Autozone (or whatever you have local).

New = $73
Remanufactured = $40

both with warranty. You can't beat it.

MC was fine, was the Brake Booster.
