2004 CRV not idleing

It turn on but it choke and dies off.
Car will stay on if press on gas.
Check engine light is on, is there a way to check for code without the reader?

actually you can buy a obII code reader for cheap now.....purchase one or go by a dealer

about $60 from matco for a reader. autozone will read the code for free

I have replaced a couple throttle bodies on the second generation CRV due to bad throttle positioning sensors'.

I usually get a code P0122 with this symptom. Let us know.

Sounds like a $1,000 throttle body problem. Just go to your local dealer and have them diagnose it. If it's the failed throttle position sensor, get Honda's number and complain. They'll work something out with you. It's a common problem.
