i came across a guy in town with a 99 cbr600 in impound. he does not have the money to get it out. I can get it out for 1400. it has 12,000 miles and looks like it is fairly clean. would this seem like a good deal? what type of issues do these cbr's usually have? any advice

 

1400 is pretty cheap, but don't forget to check how the engine runs. I assume it's been sitting there for sometime so it might have some problems.

 

How, exactly, are you going to get it out of impound without owning it? And how do you know, if you pay the guy $1400 and he gets it out that he's going to even let you have it? His name, after all, is on the title.

 

Sounds a bit shady.

Have a notarized promissory note signed. That way you'd have some ground to stand on in court if it came down to it. It probably wouldn't hurt to have him sign the title over either.

 

have him sign over the pink first then go to the DMV and register it under your name and your set. sounds like a good deal to me, I'd jump on it

 

too good to be true, but if the motor runs and the bike looks to be in good shape you can part the bike out for double that
