Auto to Manual conversion 91 ef h/b
I'm looking for a lil insght. I have a donor car but is there anything I should be aware of before hand? This is my first conversion obviously, I know that the pedal assembly is needed and the cable as far as that I'm not sure what else I need. The ecu that I am using came with my motor swap as well as the shift linkage. Let me know what to do.
Pedal Assembly: Just look for all of the bolts on the assembly, and unhook all of the pedals. You have to drop the steering column to get to the upper bolt of the pedal assembly. I learned that the hard way.
Clutch Cable: Some models have a hole there already, some don't, so just drill a hole big enough to fit it comfortably.
Linkage: Drop all of the auto crap, and there should be some existing holes at the shifter. Buy some new hardware and bolt the linkage up. You maybe have to drill holes, but I just adjusted the linkage to fit the stock holes. With all of the automatic crap gone, you will have alot of space down there. I never got around to filling it in, but find some kind of metal, or a plate to seal everything out. I would hit a puddle, and then the water would hit my exhaust and steam would come up into my car
Other then that, do some searching on what wires you have to run for the reverse light, and what plugs you have to mess with at the shifter. You can also hook up a manual guage cluster.
Rear mount: Must find a manual rear mount and replace the auto on your car.
I did one with a fairly limited amount of automotive knowledge successfully, and it was a very happy day when I first shifted.
good luck and make sure to search for the wiring/details.

Thanks for the advice, I heard from a few people that it was realtively easy. I have a donor car that I am taking the pedal assembly from, I have already swaped the clusters out. Appreciate the help.

uhhhh he already has a donor car and is doing the work himself....
so...fail.

Did the conversion to my '89 crx - remember to solder the wires at the old auto shifters location to tell the car its ok to start (like it is in neutral) - forgot that one and it took me a bit to clue in as to why i'd get nothing when i went to start the car!
PS you may need to move some of the vent ducting out of the way to get at one of the pedal clusters bolts.
