rev limit d15b
With no head work and only i/h/e and a generic chip is it safe to rev a jdm d15b to 8000 rpm. Thats what the chips changes the rev limit too. And if not what would u guys say is safe. Thanks
well its not really a generic ebay chip but still not a tuned chip for my setup so what do u guys think is safe then cause redline is 7200 but on my tach it seems to cut out and hit rev limiter at like 7100 is this normal
If all you do is change some software, it does not improve the hardware of the engine, so it may not be too safe to rev past your initial revlimit in the first place. In order to take advantage of a higher revlimit, one would have to do some internal upgrades(ie: hardware), and include a real tune.
Anywho, at the current tune, nobody can even be sure if your engine even continues to make power at that high of an rpm, and since it may be dangerous for your engine to do so anyway, I would suggest against revving too far beyond your original revlimit.
(My real suggestion to you would be to not run that untuned generic [yes, generic] chip, but this isn't a "should I use this chip?" thread)
