Some people are so stupid...
I just got back from a family day event for the Marine Corps Reserves and some guys from my platoon brought their bikes. One of them has a new 2002 Gixxer 1000. Needless to say i was drooling on it all day. Eventually we got on the topic of tricks\high speeds etc. He mentioned that he had it up to 178 on the streets AND that he was in shorts and sandals when he did it. He also went on to mention how he only gets full gear on when he is going out strictly for the purpose of riding... otherwise its shorts and a tee because its "just too damn got". I hate stupid riders... its people like him that screw insurance rates for us... sorry, just venting...

i knew a guy that was doin 150 on a bike and shot off like a parachute
what a moron. 178-----dang
at those kinds of speeds, no gear, or all the gear in the world wouldn't make any difference at all though...you're still spaghetti meat

178 wee, I wonder if he was actually up there or if it was just the Speedo lying to him, I know the bike is capable of that, that's what it maxed out at in the mags, just wondering if your daily squid could do it.
Tell him to put on some gear if he wants to live to collect his pension.

With good-quality full gear on, you'd come out of a 150+ mph getoff with a large portion of your skin still attached. With no gear at the same speed, there'd be a red streak down the road, with a pile of bones at the end (exaggerating for effect, but you get the point).
Of course, most Japanese motorcycle speedos read about 10% high, so if his speedo was reading 178, he was doing about 160 or so...

) It took a handfull of brakes and a few hard swallows to get back down to the 80mph I needed for a 40MPH turn. Thankyou BT010 tyres! Speeds like that are reserved for lonely stretches of smooth road under perfect conditions, no traffic and so on...
(dress for the fall)
its too hot? i see your from ohio or so it says.
tell him to come to arizona. you'll know what hot really is. when i would ride i nthe summer, shorts and a t-shirt were the last thing on my mind. i like my skin, and all parts that it holds together.
he IS the type of rider that drives up insurance rates.

IMO, armor will not make much of a difference if you drop at 178.......they'll just have to add a few hundered feet to their search area for add'l body parts.
