Default My car was broken into today and almost stolen! 92 Accord EX-R.

I had it in a parking lot all day and at first I didn't even know it was broken into.
The car was still locked and no windows were smashed.
When I got into the car I noticed a few things out of place and then I saw that the steering column was all f****d up, the plastic shroud was cracked open and the ignition was all scratched up and violated.
I tried starting it but the key will no longer turn in the ignition.

The only thing that saved the car was the ProLock system that the Honda dealer installed.
It's a secondary contact point below the dash board that requires a special key.
I don't think the car thief noticed it and he probably couldn't figure out why it wasn't starting.

It looks like they got into the car by prying back the window molding and using something to lift up the lock button inside car.

Can anyone recommend a simple but good alarm system for my car.
Any other tips?

Thanks,
Zak

A two-way, backup battery, extra siren in the interior, stealth install...

Check the sticky bro.

My simple cheapie alarm has saved me a number of times. I installed it myself, so I did a decent stealth job. I also have a AutoLock to lock the clutch. The main upgrade I want to do is to get a brighter LED light, because I think the thieves didnt see my LED light blinking because it was winter and the car glasses were fogged up. Point is, any alarm is better than no alarm.

Yup always, just don't have it set so sensitive that passing cars set it off.

Alarms are easy to by pass and really do no good if someone really wants your car. I'd install something that kills power to the main ECU relay and install one of those GPS tracking devices in case the thief tows your car off.

If you have a engine swap with a H22A 92' Accord, or some other expensive sound system, this is the way to go. On a stock 92 Accord, you'd probably be spending more than the car is worth doing all of this... and if you are in a wreck, you loose it all anyway. Stock Accords attract hobby thiefs and young juvenile kids. Someone would be really dumb to go all out to steal a stock 92 Accord. Just do simple layers of security. Buy a alarm, get a steering lock, or even better a Auto-Lock for your clutch/brake and a kill switch and call it a day. If someone REALLY want your car, they will get it no matter what, but someone would have to be REALLY dumb to want a stock 92 Accord that bad.

I do not know of any cheap GPS solutions. Someone suggested hiding a cell phone somewhere in your car and hardwiring it to your car battery and if it gets stolen, have the police activate the GPS unit in the cell phone and find it. I am not sure if this works.

If you have a Integra, Civic, Prelude or a newer Accord or a hooked up Accord, yes, go all out.

I have this alarm. Paid $220/installed from my local import performance shop. Best Buy sells it $240 installed, but I think I saw an ad that was for $200 installed on sale for this week. Double check their site.

It is not good to go to your local Best Buy, because if the thief lives in your area, he might be able to learn how that particular guy at your particular Best Buy installs alarms and target you. I am not sure if this is true, but it might be better to go to one outside of your normal area just to switch things up a bit for the potential theif who lives in your area.

Yeah unfortunately the cb7 is worth **** now a days. Not worth guarding like the fort knox money cause u'll end up spending 1/2 the cars value if not more, but if u love ur cb7, it just sucks.

Even though I know the resale value is poor and it's over 15 years old I still love my Accord. Of all the cars I have owned and do own this Accord is still my favorite car.
