Questions about an OBD1 JDM H22A into a 98 Prelude SH
So recently my motor blew out on me in my 98 SH, this receipt says it all.
I purchased a new motor and I plan on swapping it in next week.
I wanted to save some money and not worry about my ATTS so I bought this.
It's 95 JDM H22A with tranny, lsd, and ECU. What I need to know is, what complications am I gong to run into, if any. I know this swap has been done before so I am hoping someone who has done the same one will see this. I would like to keep everything OBD1 if possible. I need to know everything that needs to be swapped from my blown motor to my new motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't call swapping an OBD1 non-sh setup into an obd2 sh chassis straightforward.....
Its been done......SEARCH is your friend!
Another H22A4 at less than 100k miles bites the dust........Starting to see a trend as time goes on!

well would it be easier to convet it to obdII? i kinda had the same question most of the motors i see for sale are obdI and i relize from a tuning standpoint thats better but does it make it that much more difficult to swap into an obdII car?

He's got an OBD1 ecu and OBD1 engine. What's so hard about it? At worst he needs an adapter for the harness.

If you use the OBDI harness (which mmost times is impossible because it is hacked up in the engine removal process), then sure its not much work. But when you want to run the OBDII harness, there is alot more to it.
^^^, Here is my OBD1 ECU:
So the best way to do it without worrying about a wiring headache would be to plug everything right into my OBD2 ECU which is already intalled and then run a jumper harnes like this:

to my OBD1 ECU?

what engine harness are you using?
If you use the OBDII harness, you have to swap the OBDI distributor, oil pump, lower timing cover...etc. You also need to be sure you use the a4 intermediate shaft as they are different between the A and A4.

Yes, I plan on using my OBD2 harness. So I have to use my OBD2 distributor, oil pump, crank sprocket, intake manifold, and half shaft on my OBD1 motor? Is that everything then, what else needs to be swapped for this to work? If I want to go OBD1 then, I need the jumper harness to go from my OBD2 ECU to my OBD1 ECU correct?
full list of things i swapped over from my A4 motor to the A motor:
distributor
oil pump
oil pan and baffle
intermediate shaft
lower timing cover
complete intake manifold
header
PS pump and mount
Alt and mount
AC comp and mount
thats it if i remember correctly.
also did the h23 timing conversion while the engine was out.
yes, if you run your OBDII harness, you just need the OBDIIa-OBDI conversion harness to hook it up to the OBDI ecu.

Again......not straightforward.

In order to actually use my OBD1 (p13) ECU will I need it tuned if I am using an OBD1 motor?
