Either the transmission fill hole or the VSS. Honda does NOT use traditional gear oil (90wt) but it uses something close to 10w-30 viscosity oil.

why in gods name would you fill the trans through the speed sensor hole????

to the op, the fill hole is on the side of the trans. remove the 17mm bolt/washer and fill to bottom of the hole w/ honda mtf. install the bolt/washer and tighten until the washer crushes SLIGHTLY. please do not go through the trouble of removing your speed sensor to add trans fluid and then have to guess how full it is.

its easier to fill thru VSS or reverse switch holes. thats what i do. i still remove the actual fill bolt, but manipulating funnels to get into that hole sucks sometimes. so, remove fill bolt, and fill thru one of the holes on top until just a bit of fluid drips out of fill hole. done

uh, NO. its not easier, its more work and bassakwards.

if your going to work on your own car and then recommend said procedures to others.....go spend $2 on a funnel w/ a flexible hose to reach down to the trans. or spend the $2 on a hand held pump and pump the fluid into the trans from under the car (takes longer).

dont have others hacking up their **** because you guys choose to do things the polock way and think it "easier"

lol ok dingleberry the fluid all goes to the same place no matter what hole you decide to pour it in. as long as you fill up to the correct level, there is nothing wrong with doing it.

yeah, the slight difference is honda techs actually go to school and learn the proper way to work on hondas and get paid for doing it.....

while backyard mechanics like yourself who would fill their trans through the speed sensor instead of buying simple but proper tools to do the job correctly are often the result of inbreeding.

have a nice day

dude. i have funnels galore. thats not the point. the point is that in your backyard/garage, you do what is easiest, as long as the result is the same. a .99 cent funnel is nothing, and as a matter of fact the last time i put anything in my tranny, it was the ASE certified master technician honda dealership dickcheese missing gears way, thru funnels to the fill hole

lol you started an argument over filling your tranny to funnel, or not to funnel, that is the question.

now rassle up some raccoon steak, grab maw and paw and cousin Mary Jo (wife) and have a beer

lol, i JUST has to refill my tranny fluid after a clutch change. literally JUST. i took a piece of tubing, drilled a hole through the tranny fluid cap. stuck the tube in. sealed it w/ some gum. unscrewed the reverse light switch with the car ON THE GROUND so its level. put the little tube in the hole and voila. mechanical engineer FTW!

thanks for proving my point. you just wasted time doing something the WRONG way

why didnt you just take that same tube and reach down through the engine bay and insert it into the fill hole since YOU ALREADY WENT THROUGH THE TROUBLE OF REMOVING THE PLUG??????????????????

why do people have to make it so hard to do something the right way. the trans fill hole is there for a reason just like the oil cap. i dont see you mechanical engineers filling your motor oil through the dipstick tube "even though its all going to the same place" like some moron mentioned earlier
