sound cuts out when volume turned up high
first of all, my setup is only a pioneer cd player 50 X 4, stock doors, two 6 X 9's. i had a similar problem like this before where i couldnt turn the volume up above 21 or the sound would just cut completely out until i turned it off and then back on. that problem went away when i pulled the cd player out the dash and stuck it back in. yesterday i wired up an rsx type s 5" sub(just speaker without the 100w amp). i didnt think it was a good idea but i just spliced into the power and ground wires going to one of my 6 X 9's and now when i turn it up to around 26 the music will starting cutting out. it gets even worse when the car is running. i have pulled the cd player and checked all wiring. i unhooked the sub with no change. anyone have any ideas what could be my problem?
so ur stereo works but if u turn it up it turns off? and u have to turn the power off and bak on for it to work again? .... if so, u have a bad connection. check if ur speakers wires are plugged positive to positive and negative to negative.

well, i unhooked both 6 X 9's and it actually got worse. it would start breaking up at even lower volumes. im not having the problem where i have to cut the cd player off and back on anymore(i know my post was kinda hard to understand). the music will start breaking up at high volumes, but when i turn it back down it stops.
do this... disconnect all ur speaker wires from the actual speaker. plug it in 1 at a time and put volume up, if it doesnt break out, move onto the next speaker. if u it starts to mess up switch the way u wired it. it shuld solve ur problem

If you have not already, and you should have, run a 10ga-12ga fused power lead from the batt. to behind the HU and connect the HUs constant power, [yellow] to it, kind of like running power to an amp, then again that is what you are doing.
Also run a ground strap from the HUs chassis to the cars chassis, any good ground], depending on the MMY of the car you have, [let me guess, an Integra sedan?] a metal "L" bracket off the back of the HU to the stock rear radio support makes a very good ground, [another thing you should be doing just for the support] BTW leave the HUs ground connected to the stock radio ground, and don't forget to cap off the stock radio constant power, [the one the yellow was connected to].

It is possible the HU is just not getting the current it needs, "beefing up" the HUs power and ground will solve that problem.
