Default Running improperly until check engine light.

I was hoping some one might help me diagnose a problem ive been having recently. Up until about 3 days ago my car was running just fine. (4th gen H23) I was headed to work day before yesterday, and I felt a sputter while accelerating. This same sputter persisted until the check engine light came on. Obviously it concerned me a great deal. I had a similar problem with an 93 accord that I owned in the past, and it ended up that the distributer cap went to ****.

I was thinking that since the problem only lasts until the check engine light comes on that it could be something such as the mass airflow sensor, possibly being put into some kind of loop by the computer as a failsafe or something...

Am I way off base here? If so, does anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be? I can provide more information should it aid anyone in diagnosing the problem. Thanks guys.

you have to pull your CEL code. your check engine light is on for a reason, and the stored code(s) will tell you whats wrong.

ya check our code. if you don't know how, search it. just jump your 2 service connectors. long flash=10 short flash=1 and then count em up and tell us the code. and preludes dont have maf's we got map's. but it sounds to me like its your IACV valve. try cleaning it out or replace it.
