Default a/c stinks

literally, '94 EX, when you start the car up, there is this pungent stink that blows out for probably 10-15 minutes before it dies down to where you don't notice it. Other than stinking for a while, it cools fine. I've cleaned out the drain hose from the evap housing (wasn't clogged) and even squirted water up inside the evap housing after disconnecting the drain hose but did not flush any crud out. I'm stumped. Any answers?

get some bleach and dillute it in water and clean out the air ducts and then make suere that the drain hole for the A/C is not plugged under the car. if the water cannot drain out you will get a mini swamp in there and it will stink.....

It's mildew. When you use your A/C, turn it off before you turn of your car, and let the air cycle through the ventilation system.

I never really use recirculate, just vented air from outside...

you may have covered it last week but I couldn't find it in the archives (new member also). I did suggest (to the wife) that she turn the compressor off about 3 miles before she gets home and we'll see. I'm hesitant about pouring diluted bleach water down the air ducts but may try it if Ist remedy doesn't work. Thanks for the info.

same here...

make sure your a/c drain is working b/c mine was clogged
it would get backed up and drip inside my car, and also had a funny smell from the water being in there all the time
