Default replacing heater core - joy

so i'm gonna be putting in a new heater core soon but i may not have time to do it all in one day. i know i have to basically gut the dash out and steering column. however, can i still drive the car if rip most of the dash out? will the car run correctly without the instrument panel and other electrical devices removed? can i reinstall the steering column if i need to drive it?

You just have to take out the dash and stuff, but not the steering column, to do the heater core. If you're going to need to drive it, I would plug in the gauges and set them on top of the steering column and hold em with some zip-ties or something. I don't think the turn signals work without the cluster...

i recently swapped out 2 dashes, and there was no way I could pull that out without dropping the steering column. So if you have to remove the dash to get to the heater core, then you will have to drop the steering column. Unless you want a busted dash that is. Its really not that hard anyways...total of 10 bolts 8 screws.

Oh, yes I agree with that. I thought he was saying take out the steering column....
