Default New to the EF world... HELP!

some questions... no good info, dont bother posting.. just need answers.

looking to do a type r 5 lug conversion on my 1991 civic si.
whats needed to do this conversion on an EF? whats different from a EG or EK?

does the ASR subframe brace from an EG work on an EF? do they have one for an EF?

Suspension? koni yellows/GC or Tein Coils? or others..?

to do the SiR front end conversion does everything have to be jdm spec.? can you use usdm headlights still? is there anything else needed besides hood, fenders, bumper, filler panel, lights? ex. rad support?

anyone use the Mfactory LCAs on an EF yet? they say that the EG ones will work.

Looking to build this car slowly over time. im not some kid with pipe dreams, just want everything done right, once! any info at all is appreciated, please dont kill this thread with bullshit. thanks in advance.

Here is a link that covers the 5 lug conversion;

http://technet.ff-squad.com/how-to/5lug.ef-da/

To do a JDM front end swap, you need the hood, bumper, headlights, front turn lights, and side turn lights. Depending on who you talk to, you also need the hood latch support "T" bracket.

Don't count on any part designed for an EG fitting an EF unless the manufacturer says it will fit.

I personally like Koni shocks and that's what I have (with Neuspeed street springs)

good luck with the project!!

Wes

As long as you have fork-type dampers, then our EG LCA's will fit. There are several EF owners on this board who are running them

i just installed Mfactory spherical LCAs along with Mfactory upper spherical camber arms on my 88 civic, with koni spss3 and 700 lb springs. everything fits fine, no issues.

the Mfactory parts are pretty impressive for the price.
(MFactory. can i get a 50% discount on the rear Toe arms for the kind words! ) haha

also got the Progress front lower control arm spherical kit. haven't installed that yet. this weekend most likely.
can't wait til the car is driveable in the next month.

check homotorsonline.com or passwordjdm.com fir this. they've got complete kits.

I prefer the H&R Sport Springs w/ Tokico Hp's for my daily drivers. H&R Race Springs w/ Tokico Illuminas for a bit more aggressive driving. I'd never buy coilovers, sleeve ones that is. H&R or Tein would be a great start for full coilovers.

Best way to do it. Only problem is you'll buy something, then change your mind. Or you'll never be able to make up your mind 100%. That's me all the time. Good luck with this though. Be sure to post pics and updates.

there is nothing wrong with a sleeve coilover.
no different then a tein super street. that is just a cheap shock with a threaded sleeve pressed onto it.

i'd much rather have a Koni yellow with the proper Ground control sleeve or Bilstein, then some overpriced crappy TEIN suspension.
a threaded body shock doesn't mean that it is GOOD.

True. Koni with ground controls or ever skunk2 is going to be better than tein. Just look at what the auto-xers are running --> Koni. You won't find Tein on a single car in grid at a national event. Tokicos blow.

I never dawgd sleeves just said I wouldn't use them. You know we all have our preferences. ....I'd put a beer here, but it's gone...

That's great! I'm still sporting Tokicos. Have been since I got my first Honda, never a problem.

Tokicos blow compared to Blistien. But an equal to Koni, IMHO.

What would you consider a problem? If your standards are that a shock not blow out then maybe the Tokicos are fine. Here's why they suck:

The "adjustment" **** does little to nothing at each of its 5 clicks. It supposedly adjust compression and rebound together although I don't believe it adjusts anything. The dampening is not sufficient to dampen spring rates over 300 in/lb. That's nothing.

If you want a shock for performance you get koni. Tokico are not good shocks.

I dont' have time to waste arguing on here. Get a clue D16Z6"racing".

What are going to do with this car? Daily drive, track only, drag....?

I just daily drive my cars. I gave up racing when the kids came to the family. Different set ups for everything. H&R w/ Tokico gives me a great comfy ride w/ readiness for a little hard turning when needed.

you must be joking. nothing manufactured by tokico is even equal to OEM IMHO.
