I have a 1993 Honda Accord lx coupe. It's my first car, and the car I learned to drive a stickshift on, so I have a special bond . This thing has been really great, super reliable, and I've been getting 35mpg average. At first I didn't have much interest in playing with it, having interests in other things. But I am finding it tempting to tinker around and modify it a bit. It was suggested to me that I replace my stock paper air filter system with an after market kit, something less restrictive. I'm told it will increase power, and possibly increase fuel efficiency. I also like the sound
If I buy another kit, will it decrease my available power at lower speeds? Or decrease it at higher speeds? I would prefer to have more power at lower rpm's, because I keep my speeds pretty low as is.

Also, does anybody have any recommendations for a decent kit? I see a lot of these things on eBay, and they are not very expensive. I am hesitant to buy them though. I am looking for a middle of the road kit. Not interested in spending hundreds for carbon fiber or something attractive like that, but I want something that will still last a bit. Thanks

 

do you want a short ram intake or cold air intake or just a filter.


The ebay short ram intake ( SRI) piping is perfectly fine, its just suggested you get a new filter for the end of it. I personally grabbed a ebay kit, and threw an AEM or KN filter on it and called it a day. It sounds alot more throaty.
