Default Saturday morning sex-change for my lude

Towed my 94 over to my shop this morning and removed the automatic transmission mount bracket. (spot weld cutter bit FTW!)

Welded on a Manual transmission mount bracket and did some reinforcing on both side mounts.

Bottom
Instead of 4 spot welds.

Now my paper weight.

Driveside- reinforcement only.

Not the prettiest welds but good enough for the girls i roll with .

So the automatic to manual transmission swap requires changing the chassis mounts?

The transmission mount bracket's are different. The driver side mount's are the same regardless of auto/manual. The only difference on the transmission mount brackets is the Through bolt hole. You can see in my pics.

Although the automatic trans mount bracket can be used, it will cause the
Engine to set unlevel
Extra stress on the rest of the rubber mount due to missalignment.
Added vibration

PLLLEEEEASSSEEEE make sure its welded good before you use it with those mounts. It looks fine, so thats good, but my car broke a week ago and the mount is the reason why. The shop that did my swap on my car before I owned it did exactly what you're doing (auto to manual) but didnt weld it in good enough, and it broke on me last week. I ripped it right off the chassis.

Not pretty. Those mounts sure do add some stress! haha

Your mount bracket look's untouched, I only see the 3 spot welds on the front. I don't think mine will break right there where yours did.

I did the actual conversion 2 years ago, Then last winter I bought my 92(factory 5spd car) and noticed it then.

I always wondered why it was a pita to line that hole up( pry bar ) You can see the pic of my front mount in my other thread. Totally smashed.

There isn't a whole lot holding that bracket on there.

I'm not a pro welder.
Comparing what was holding it on from the assembly line, yes I think I will be just fine.

I think you'll be fine also. You can thank Team Auto for my cars downfall. They charged the guy before I owned the car $9000 to swap in a H22, and with a F22 TRANSMISSION! Not to mention they did a HORRIBLE wire job on the auto to manual, put in a NON el gauge (it WAS el auto), and a shitty p06 to p28 conversion computer, along with bad mounts.

Yours looks fine.

What color are you going?

Good job steveo </TD></TR></TABLE> Don't you need to do this also?

I going with BG23M Biches Brittany Blue Green Metallic.

The rest of the car will be painted BG23M years down the road, usual rust in the rear 1/4s/about 4 shades of red/pink, and alot of dings so i cant afford all that bodywork right now.

The bay will be blingin though!

yup

honestly I just don't feel like doing it right now, it has been fine for nearly 3 years...

If I was going to pull the engine for any reason though, I'd definitely do it.

If i didnt have my 92 as a driver there is no way i could have done this.

Got the paint date set, Aug 6th. That's their 1st opening , now i need to pull the fenders and remove the brake hard lines from the bay. Got the booster/mc off 30minutes ago.

I have no life right now(never really have anyway) Work on cars all day(most are POS wiring fires waiting to happen) as a job. Come home and work on my lude.

great color, its the same as mine stock so its ready for some new spray . i was considering black but seeing that fresh coat of BBG is making me reconsider. Btw , what kinda welder was used, stick or wire feed ? what gauge? Looks realy good minus the craters in some spots but all in all it should do the trick.

looks like you have alot of air bubbles in there, but I guess with that extra plate in there it should be ok, since the factory mount is just tack welded in i believe
