Default cv axel

Ok, Im stuck. Im changing out the right side cv axel, all is fine UNTIL I go to put the new one in. The new one wont fully go in because some metal/aluminum bar...or something, is in the way.

Anyone know what's wrong, and what's needed to correct it?

A metal ring? Try to line up the teeth with the tranny and have a second person come in and hit it with a rubber mallet.

No, not a metal ring. Here's what I'm looking at...

The arrow points to what's hindering the axel's entrance.

Huh. Was your axle broken? Try to get a better picture (zoomed farther in). It looks like something is pretty broken.

i had the same issue on my 94 accord, since it was my first time doing the axles. Anyway hold the axle straight and give it a good shove!!!!!!!!! kinda like when you're having sex with a chick you stick it in there DEEP and she goes OOOOO. sorry that was un-called for. but yea give it a good shove and BTW DO NOT hold on to the boot as you're pushing it into the tranny, it will take a few tries trust me on that but don't get frustrated yo'll get it. good luck

Love the analogy, and you are correct.

In the end I had to call someone who has done it before to come help me. I honestly thought I had fucked something up and was ready to have it towed off.

It's on now and no more "pop-pop-pop" when I turn.

Thanks everyone, I'll be back with my next issue.
