Default SKunk 2 Stage 2s Question

Is there a problem running this with stock compression on a b18c1 gsr? Is there a way to boost compreesion with these cams without having work done to the block? Thanks in advance

Flat faced valves will help by about 0.2 compression. 2 layer headgasket. Carbon buildup on pistons lol.

You are not going to get a significant bump in compression without different pistons.

Skunk Stage 2's are fine with stock GSR compression.

You can also mill the head to raise compression. I had my head milled .030 which brings compression up about .5. So if you mill the head, get flat faced valves, and a thin head gasket like from Spoon, you will get a nice bump to about 11.0. But like b19coupe said, stock compression is fine with these cams.

i thought skunk stg 2's like about 11.3+ compression though people also put them in ITR's with 11.1 and make power

Listen to B19, forget trying to increase compression.

think he meant compression ratio wise.

stage 2's should be fine with gsr CR, but if you want to go all out some flat faced valves, 2 layer head gasket and milling the head a bit will bump your CR without spending money on forged pistons

Why do you want your compression to be 12:1?

I want to get the max performance out of the stage 2s. Is that too much compression for them?

It's not that it's to much, but it's not required as stated by so many other experienced people in this thread. Increasing compression like that without need will only make it harder to tune. Skunk says 11:1 is ideal for those cams, many people run less and make good power, running more compression isn't going to make that much difference.

well the only thing is that my rings are bad and im burning oil so I was gonna rebuild the bottem end. I wanted to do it once and right so I figured the high compression wouild aide me donw the line if I ever wanted to upgrade the cams

For sure, just don't need to go overboard. Anything from 10.5-11.5 is great for street daily driven cars. Forget the CTR pistons, just go with the PR3 or P30 pistons, you'll be happy with them. You'll have enough compression to run most of the common good power cams out there.

cams will only change your dynamic compression ration! are your cams pro series?

No they are not pro series. Cams affect dynamic compression but that's not what's being discussed here. You typically match your static comp ratio to your cams requirements for that reason.
