Default 205-50-15 Azenis mounted on stock rims: Impressions

Went for a little drive up my local deserted 3 lane mountain road after I scrubbed the tires in. These babies really suprised me at the amount of grip they offered. The sloppie feel some people have complained about wasn't really a factor, but I'm running them at 33f/30r. It would be interesting to back to back drive them on a 7 inch wheel to notice how they handle differently. Overall I give them a . For the record I paid $476 CAD for the tires and mounting ($310 US)

They would be even better on a wider wheel, right?

Yes, something like a 15x7 or 16x7 wheel.

Or say 215/45 on a 16x7.5?

I bought them from a shop called South Canada Auto Racing in Vancouver. Friendly service, and they were real careful with my wheels. I got the last set in Vancouver, there is a ridiculous 2 month wait now.

Jack em up in the upper 40's and see how they feel then, heh. The problem is that as soon as you autocross or go to a road course, if they're still at 33/30, they're going to roll over pretty bad. Autocrossing I didn't notice, but on the track, woah sloppy city, specially under heavy braking and other times.

Do you have light weight wheels? I can't believe that it could be much of a difference...

I really don't like the Azenis with that much air in them. I've been running auto-x and track at about 32f/36r and it seems to be working well for me, no rolling at all.
my wear line seems to be right where it should be.

NM, I read your post wrong.

Kosei K1 Racing Cast 16x7.5 15.5 lbs. I read that the Azenis were only 21-22

Aziens are heavy!

My 15" Circuit 8s with aziens are about 4 lbs heavier then my 16" Slipstreams with Paradas.

And I can feel the powerloss.

I sure don't like them with that much PSI either... maybe I'm pushing them too hard because they sure as hell rolled at 32, I need to take some pictures

It's too bad they don't make them in 195/50R15 or 195/45R15 or I'd be all over them. 205/50R15 looks too bobo for me, and I like the 45 sidewall, and how it helps with the final drive.

Hmmm, I was sure they made a 195/50, just not a 195/55 which I was thinking was the stock size for the R. Hmmm, I need to go check my facts I guess.

edit: Well, facts checked - indeed, doesn't look like a 195/50 or 195/55, at least not from Vulcan Tire. That sucks...

I recently got my Azenis mounted on stock rims and definitely noticed the sloppy feel when I first got them. i autocrossed on them, with 80 miles on them, and they were amazing. I ran 42 psi all around and the car felt great until the pressures in the front rose to 45/46psi and it began to push in the low speed corners. Im running 37F and 34R and ythey seem to be fine.

I believe they used to, but they stopped.

Azenis 205/50/15 are 22.6 lbs according to Falken's web site. Kuhmo 712 in same size is 19.7 lbs. OEM RE010 195/55/15 is about 20 lbs according to a tech I asked at Bridgestone.
