Default Hood Pins

I am searching around to buy hood pins and I found hood locks. Guess its a type of security system. Anyone use these "Hood Locks?" Wouldn't they be easy to break open?

Well it's always good to have an extra layer of security on your car as a deturant, but I mean, hood pins aren't gonna be like "OMG OMG, HE'S GOT PINS, SON!!!" and then they're not gonna jack it.

Pins are easy to bypass. Cordless drill w/ dremel ftw.

Though like I said, it is indeed an extra layer of security.

Well actually I am not buying for mainly security purposes. I need pins for my CF hood as it is recommended. Instead of pins I figured that this would work out better. So basically its just to re enforce my CF hood.

ekb16, got any pictures?

I dunno man, I've been dealing with CF hoods awhile and I've only had one fly up, and that's only because there was no hood latch (at all) and a big burnout but the tires caught.

Though if that's what ya wanna do, they'll serve the purpose just like any other hoodpins.

Hmm. Well would you consider using these since its kind of a bonus having a little locking device with it? Kinda of like killing 2 birds with one stone. I mean these are only $25 dollars from NRG

Yeah, they're a good buy if you have a CF hood. I was simply pointing out how everybody says they're so needed but I've never seen the need for them.

Go buy 'em.

Just be careful drilling through CF as when it cracks it spiders out.

Hood locks are NOT to be used in place of hood pins!
They are only for security, not for holding down a CF hood. Better manufacturers, such as Mr Gasket, who make these locks clearly print that warning on the packaging......it pisses me off that NRG doesnt seem to have the same, from how these are marketed.

Locks cannot hold up to the constant movement the hood can make, while driving - the lock CAN spin on its own, in situations, causing a release...

If you want added security, get the locks (though I dont think theyre too wonderful anyway).
If you want to hold down your hood, because youre smart, get pins.

I've been looking at these too. The pictures make them look terrible (the first car they are on doesn't help either), but they are really nice. Very well engineered product.

i've got sparco hood pins on my crx they work great
on my 1970 chevy pickup i have hood locks just cause you can open the hood from outside the cab. hood locks look real nice, and in my opinion most hood pins look rice, but if you have them cause you need them then it's not rice.
just make sure you get a good set and use some loctite on the nuts to make sure they don't back out

I like the look of these they are a true hood pin with out all the washers and exposed pins. I bet once installed you could color match the latch assy to make it blend in

If i were to go with hood pins I would go with those. I have never liked the way hood pins have looked in the past, but those ^^ look clean.

Man, for all that trouble I'd just paint my oem hood black.

But Cf is cooler I guess.

I didn't know you HAD to have hood pins for a cf hood. I figured the nice ones came with a strong latch.

I wouldn't see why not. The only problem I could see might be a problem with the key lock, but I think that you will have more of a problem with the soda machine key style.
