Default Cleaning the valve cover?

Hey everyone. This is my first post on this forum. I've been reading here for about 2 months now and finally decided to become a member. Yesterday, I became a proud owner of my dream car, an ITR. Today, I was cleaning the engine bay out and I noticed that the valve cover was a dullish red. I tried engine degreaser, but it still looked rather dark. Is there any secrets out there that I can do or any special treatments that I can use? Has this happened to anyone else? Lemme know guys. Thanks a million. I look foward to many good times on this forum.
