Okay so I purchased a higher amps alternator. The stock one is 65 amps, the new one is 165 amps.
Do I need to upgrade the power feed cable? Will the added ampers cause an engine bay fire?

My car is a 99 Em1 with the stock b16a3.

 

i dont really know the answer to your question, but what exactly is the purpose of a higher amp alternator?

 

I installed a system with a 2.0 farad cap and my lights still dim a little and the amp just isn't kicking enough juice. The stock one is 65 amps and the denso rebuilt one I purchased now it 165 amps. Enough juice to supply the higher demand now cause of the system.
