Default MSD (or comparable) ignition?

A little help for the new guy, please:

I'm looking at the MSD upgrades for my 89 Si, and they're pretty. The question is, is it compatible with OBD0, and will it really make any difference? You can view the specific items at http://www.msdignition.com/cgi-bin/app_guide_3.pl.

Anyone have experience with this?

Also, as a noob, I did try to first search for "ignition" and "MSD" and got nothing.

what MSD stands for is Multi Spark Discharge and in essence what it can do is throw a much hotter spark to your spark plugs allowing a much better burn of the fuel/air mixture. Now that is only if you buy an MSD ignition box, correct me if i am wrong anybody. And if you buy the distributor cap and coil you will get a stronger spark but i dont think you get the Multi Spark Discharge.

Now yes i am pretty sure this will work with obd 0 vehicles because hey people use them on carb setups in drag racing all the time. Now for power you will probably see a little increase depending on which system you use. I would think that it would also allow the engine to run smother throughout the rpm range and maybe a little quicker throttle response.

Now that is just what i know and it may be wrong so if there is anybody else that has actual experience feel free to let me know if my info is false.

Seriously not necessary unless your car is highly modified. Many Honda's with a lot of hp are running stock ignition.

Your money is better put in other places.

Yes the only reason you would need one is if you couldn't get enough spark to burn your fuel and if this is the case race fuel would also be necessary....

Unless you want launch control

So with a basically stock motor, you're saying there is no performance advantage?
