tranny problems 98 honda accord auto 2.3
i have a 98 honda with 84000 miles on it . it has the 2.3 in it . when i take off and it gets ready to shift into second it is like it hesitates before it gos into gear im a mechanic and i have felt slips it maybe sliping but it feals more like it kicks out and then back in it is just a breaf second and it gos into gear smooth after the hesitation and it is just when it shifts into second it shifts fine threw all the other gears . do i need to start looking for a new tranny or is there some kind of silinoid that could be causeing this . and if i need a tranny were is my best bet on getting one at a decent price or is there a such thing as a decent price lol .
i'm going through the same problem.... the shift from 1st to 2nd slips and its been getting worse. Apparently (correct me if i'm wrong) 98-01 accords, TL's, and CL's have defective tranny's. but instead of doing a recall they decided to extend the warranty on those cars affected to a 7 year 109,000 mile warrant on the transmission. unfortunately mine is over that mileage and the dealer basically told me i have to pay for a new tranny....... =/

call the dealer and ask to run your VIN. If your ride falls under the mileage and fits within the TSB VIN number guidelines your eligible for a warranty replacement. If you dont fall under the guideline's yes you need to start locating a used tranny. But your going to have the best luck with one that is older than a 2001. You will have even better luck with paying the dealership for a remaned tranny.
