Default fuel pump?

alright, whenever i start up my car and either put it in reverse or in 1st..when i come to the end of my driveway, leaving a parking lot, whatever...when i come to a stop my rpms drop to ZERO, but it only happens once right after i start my car, drive 20-25 ft and stop. my car doesn't stall although it REALLY feels like its going to. and it does this whether i have a full tank of gas or not. i havent had time to figure anything out yet so while at work i decided to ask and hopefully get some insight.

thanks in advance

car is a 2000 EX D16y8, 5 speed

Hey,

When you first start your car, it runs in a warm up loop, meaning the O2 sensor is not heated up yet, your motor is cold etc. So the idle should be higher than normal, usually around 1000 rpm give or take, Just higher than normal. Once the car warms up it regulates back to normal.

Sounds like you have either a really low idle setting, or your IAC (Idle Air Control) is malfuncting. Any mods to the throttle? intake manifold? Etc...

I dont think it would be the fuel pump because if it was it would cause it to stall more often once the idle is low after the car is heated up, I would assume... but assumptions are the mother of all f*** ups. At least thats what i'm told.

Chris
