Default Wierd Cutting out/stuttering problem With new head

Well let me Start out by saying thanks for any help !

Heres the deal, I had a HMO jdm gsr motor in my car, A friend had a pnp Pr3 head with skunk 2 stage 2 cams, omni springs and retainers,skunk2 valves and 345 injectors, and has also ben milled atleast 20 thouanths with a brand new valve job fresh from the machine shop forsale so i ended up picking it up

So we installed all of this with a stock thickness cometic gasket/skunk 2 pro series cam gears (advanced 2 degrees to make up for mill) /toda timing belt blah blah, I ordered a Phearable.net basemap because this is a pretty simple setup, and has ben a AWSOME product plenty of times for me and friends. It starts up , runs great no problems at all, No CEL.

We took it out, drove it around for awile to make sure everything was running good and smooth. We went out to a remote area and gave it some gas through second gear and pulls hard all the way to the vtec transition (5800 rpms) then around 7000 rpms it becomes choppy, stuttering then Sort of comes out of it around 8k but still seems like it really isnt going anywhere. The Timing is dead on , The cam gears are on, It just feels like it is more of a spark problem than anything I changed my plugs and it still acts the same.

Any idea what this could be , and or cause this?

the only thing i can think of is maby my distributer, We swapped all my obd1 Gsr guts into this obd1 b16 casing, their was no previous problems with the gsr distributer.

Also What should my Plugs be gapped at? This might also play a roll

Setup-

Pr3 head pnp
Milled 20 thouands
Ported ITR manifold
Skunk stage 2 cams
Omni springs and ret.
Skunk vavles
Prelude 345's
Skunk cam gears
Cometic stock gasket

Fresh Stock Jdm GSR block

Again thanks for any help

The dizzy is the original that came on the motor when it was purchased from HMO about a year ago

The map is for my setup, and its not a crazy setup so i dont think the tune is the problem

you could be insanely leaning out at the part.. take it from a local tuner, phearable is very good people, but i've seen a few of their maps they did. My buddy's mildly bolt on and cam gsr had this problem. He is also running a phearable.net map, when i pulled the map from the cheap, it was almost compareable to a stock jdm gsr map.. which is actually pretty sad... I ended up using that as a basemap and tried to help him out, i haven't finished yet, but i understand what your problem is, and its most likely not enough timing or too much, and/or your too rich or too lean at this point..
also when you buy a hmo motor, i hope you read the fine print, you must replace half the **** on the motor.. sparkplugs and wires, starter, alternator, waterpump the whole nine, i had to do this with my itr because it ran like a raped ape.
Whats your sparkplug / wire setup, and is your dizzy 16tdc? if so.. get it tuned, i assureyou like 98vtec said, get it tuned.

Get to a dyno and tune, or at least verify your A/F with a wideband on the dyno.
Check your ignition system-dist. cap/rotor-some aftermarket plug wires can also cause a misfire.

I have a guy that does street tuning here locally for a selected few people, I might head over and see him and get a wideband on my car and see what its doing up top.

My car used to be boosted awile back (completly diffrent setup) and i had neptune RTP when we went out and street tuned it When the timing was too much or not enough around the vtec tansistion it felt exactly the same (sputter/ hesitate) then when we corrected it , it went away.

If anything the car is running fairly rich all around (my guess) , the bumper has a little black around the tail pipe after doing some hard runs

Wires/distributer had no previous problems before all the swapping so im not quite positive

Im going to take apart the distributer and re-build it today and see if that clears up this problem , i hope so

again thanks for the help , this thing really has me stumped

yea, it may be for your setup, but that doesnt mean it will run good.

get a wideband so you know for sure whats going on or pay someone to tune it....

a basemap is not "for your setup" its a basemap

maybe clean your vtec solenoid filter? Check your oil level. Did you fully warm up the car before hitting vtec? good luck

Dont scare me , I should be able to do a compression test to eliminate this option right?

Filter is clean, Fresh oil, Fully warmed up

On a side note , I replaced the cap and rotor and it really didnt do anything to help.

Changed plugs, cap, and rotor Still no luck. A local guy said that there is a bearing in the distributer and it might be siezing up causing it to bog because he has seen this before, does that even sound legit?
