Default "90 Si Hatch's" tare down of a D16Y8, and my new Build JDM D15B Vtec 56K Heck NOOO

Well about 3 months ago i had a loss of power in my d16y8 and i thought it was a bent valve, my teacher said it was a cracked piston, and some one else said it was a spun rod bearing..... well after all that a few days later i pulled the motor out and tore it down and come to find out it was in fact a spun rod bearing..... so here are some pics of the old motor and some of the new build. I am not completely done with the new motor, i still lack a few odds and ends..... so let me know what you all think.

nice!! Too bad about ur old motor What size and what brand is that new throttle body? looks awesome. Your new block and valve cover look clean as hell too. Im glad you arent like some of the gomers that swap a filthy nasty engine into their nice clean cars. Its cool that you can work on ur **** at school too. I bet you dont have a shortage of input/help/tools to make it easier than the average home garage swap. Props!!

you're going to want to at least get a cam to go with that fat tb and intake manifold. Otherwise you aren't going to get decent gains at all...

i personally think a 68mm tb is over kill for n/a unless your boosting . i think the proper size would be around 60-62mm i dont know thats just me. i guess it depends on what your future mods are but until then i would run a b-series tb and call it a day.

oh yeah nice build up so far

Yeah really man youre gonna wanna add a nice cam and springs. Also you would definitley benifit from a nice pnp job. Also you man wanna try a ls tb just for the fact you can sell the skunk tb and make some money and spend it on that nice cam.

it was just a suggestion.. I just would personally run something cheaper but if you got it cheap than rock it.. But please add a nice cam to help increase the benefit of adding the s2 tb and mani. Hows the progress coming along?

With that big of a throttle body he'll have to run a cam otherwise the engine won't run right at all.
