Speedo cable

I have a 89 dx civic with a b16a swap...if i dont have a speedo cable will my v-tec not work?if not what model and year do i need one from?if i don't need it what else could it be?thanks much

If your speedo is not working, you will throw a CEL and VTEC will not engage. You need any 88-91 speedometer cable.

yea its throwing code 17...i just didnt know what cable i needed...is that why my v-tec isnt working though?
