sometimes when i crank my car it will turn right back off 2 or 3 times then it will start up & idel, what would cause that??

check ur air filter, idling, sparkplugs...

 

its a d15z1 motor..sometimes it will crank right up & run fine but then sometimes it will crank but when the rpm's go back down it will hit zero & shut off, i was thinkin maybe it was the fuel filter, but im no mechanic..someone please help! i gotta go out of town this weekend & dont wanna get stranded

 

could be map sensor / bad ignitor & or Coil.

Whats a d15z1 engine?? JDM? What car is this in, what computer are you running. What has been changed from stock? The more info you give the better. Check for vacuum leaks. Where does the car typicaly idle at? Does it have any other issues, as far as driveability? Does this happen with a full tank of gas?

Also, the next time this happens, turn the car off, then turn it to ignition, but don't try to start it. Listen for a whirring noise coming from the back seat area. Should only be for a few seconds, thats your fuel pump. If you don't hear any noise, i'd swap the main relay out.

 

d15z1 is a jdm motor but they do come stock in a honda civic vx, mine is a 94 ex coupe..i have a air intake & exhaust but they've been on their for a while now w/no problems..the car usually runs good & idle's at about 4-500rpm's

 

check fuel filter, injectors, diagnose the ecu..
