Default Any interest in a diy windows auto up/down?

I am tired of sitting there for those 4 or 5 seconds holding the switch waiting for the windows to roll up or down. It would be nice to just tap the switch and have the window go up or down automatically. I have a general idea of how to make it work, but I still need to work out the details. Would there be enough interest for me to spend the time doing the writeup?

go for it. make sure its cost effective first because the dei one does it auto for you on both window. Also are you going to make it for the pass side too.

I was planning on doing all 4 plus the sunroof. How much is the dei unit? Mine shouldn't be more than $20 in parts. Most likely, it will be less than $10.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm sure plenty of people will find it useful.

That would be cost effective, the DEI 530T sells for about $75, and as little as $35 on eBay, it will do 2 windows, fully automate them up and down, auto roll up on alarm arming, auto roll down from alarm EXT output and 1" venting if EXT is pressed within a few sec. of arming alarm, windows will roll all the way up when arming and reopen 1" if EXT is pressed after arming.
It will also stop the window if more then normal resistance is encountered, and has instant stop for both up or down when either up or down is pressed again.

Now if you can do that for under $10, your going to be stupidly wealthy. 94

I'd be interested... I don't remember if my Civic has auto down... I know my Accord does, but it would be cool to have the passenger side auto up/down..

Thanks for screwing up my plans. I wasn't going to implement that many features, but I don't see why I couldn't. Any other features that anybody would like added?

My Accord has a relay in each door for the motor. Are all Hondas like that? My plan was to reuse those relays, which would make the module much cheaper. For installation, 2 thin-gauge wires would need to be run into each door and hooked up to each switch, vs 14+ gauge wires hooked up to the motor wires for the dei unit. Everything else would be wired up in the driver's kick panel.

ACTUALLY the DEI window module will only control 1 of the following:

- 2 windows up OR down
-1 window up AND down

So if you wanted 2 windows to roll down AND up with say, and alarm, you would need 2 modules. 4 windows, 4 modules. 4 windows plus the sunroof, 5 modules. not to mention that they are quite time consuming to install depending on the car and wiring. If you can figure out a cheaper alternative, go for it. free bump for your future effort man.

Ok. It been a while since i've had to install a set of these. We haven't had to purchase this module in a while given that we have the old modules still in stock. I haven't exactly been following Directed's new product line. I was wrong sorry. But b18c_ej8, before you go jumping to conclusion on a person's intelligence make sure you know the person. Everyone makes mistakes. I was just a tad bit outdated on this info. I mean I know everyone on H-T packs a flamethrower but you take the flaming cake. Stop playing e-thug and go do something productive. 02 Accord sorry about the misunderstanding. PM me if you need any help with a schematics set. I have access to Directed's site for schematics and can offer them to help the community out. Always happy to help, never to flame.

I am far from an e-thug... I don't threaten people or flex my e-muscles...

And I feel that trying to keep this forum clear of misinformation is very productive.

But thank you for your concern.

And in the future, since you "haven't exactly been following Directed's new product line", before you attempt to correct a seasoned professional with an "ACTUALLY", you should really check things out before you post what you think is fact.

Ok i've admitted that I was wrong. I never purposely tried to disprove a fellow installer/shop. YES I WAS WRONG AND STAND CORRECTED. It was all just a big misunderstanding with the 530T and 529T. Okay, cut and done with. Now 02 Accord lmk if you REALLY need a 530T to inspect i can see if i can find a defective one lying around so you can see what the board layout is like.

I don't NEED one, but I'm sure it would help me out a lot. If you find one laying around and want to throw it my way, it would be great; if not, no big deal.

Since we are groveling, I will say I'm sorry you misunderstood my response to your proposed "module", I certainly wasn't trying to screw up your plans, if you can get it to work, [automate both front windows up and down] I can think of 5-10 people, right off the top of my head, that would want it, you could still make a few $$$ if all it did was automate 2 windows up and down. 94

Would love to see a diy for this.

I have a clifford smart windows I use when I have my clifford alarm installed, but it would be great to see a cheap writeup for this since I go through project cars quickly

Not yet. I have 2 more weeks of school left, so after that, I will have plenty of time to play around with this.

I've driven plenty of GM cars over the years, from the 70s to now, and I've driven the new Corvette. The C6 is a really nice car, I have to admit, and it's totally unlike any other GM car I've ever been in. All the other ones have been total junk, and butt-ugly too. I'm not sure how a car company can produce one great car, and everything else so horrible, but they do. It's almost like a separate company is making the Corvette.
