Default valve rocker arm

so when me and my buddy was taking my head off we accidently let the valve rocker arms fall out. Now i don't where they go, as in which one goes where? There are little # on them, like 4, 2, 3, maybe a 1 or 0, there all really hard to see though. My question is does it matter where they go, are they all the same? Because i put them on and a did a valve adjustment and then started my engine and just heard a whole bunch of clicking and ticking, so i turned it off right away. Also when i was adjusting my valves im wondering how much resistance should i feel with the feeler quage, i did it so i could just barly feel it. and the exuast side i basicly needed to adjust the screw all the way out just so i could have the feeler gueage be able to pass trough it. Please help a guy out in needs, i miss my car and its been 3 weeks with out it. BTW its a B18b engine.

no it doesnt matter where they go. they are the same part. it's the settings that are different. u can put them in any order if u forgot where they were originally, u just need a valve adjustment to specs. if its to tite it wont idle correctly or some cases at all. and if its to loose it'll tick like crazy. also did u lube up all of the rotating contacts? if u don't do that it will tick too. i usually use wd-40. but assembly lube would be good and make sure u torque it down correctly and in sequence in case of warpage.

lube the contacts of the cam shaft, i used engine oil, is that alright? and i re did my valve lash, and now i only have a little bit of ticking, so im thinking i should do another adjustment? Also, how much resistance should i feel with the feeler gauge?

well for me i do it by feel. been doing it a long time to where i can kinda have a finger feel to it. but if i had to use a feeler gauge then i would do it to specs. i believe u do it on a cold engine with a clearance of : intake .08 - .10 (or was it .12) either way itll be exeptable. and for exhaust : .16 - .20 and u do it 1,3,2,4. if im wrong i apologize ahead of time cuz i don't have my manual with me. i have it on my laptop. but im pretty sure im close
