Default hawk hp+ dust

In my other post I was asking where I could find gransport pads in the Toronto area, but I can't find any dealers around here. The hawk hp+ seem to be much more easily available so I'm thinking of trying them out. My only problem is the dust with them... I know the blues dust a lot and may also damage the paint, which is something I really dont want. Are the hp+ the same, or is the dust easily cleanable? (I dont care if it dusts a lot as long as I can clean it).

Thanks.

They'll dust alot, but nothing that's not cleanable if you keep up on the cleaning. Trying to say wipe everything down every couple of days, it could get ugly if mixed with road grime and water.

if you need a pad with that stopping power, it's going to dust. i can't do the hp+'s for daily driving due to the noise, the dust was the least of my worries.

Blues only damaged paint and wheel finish when I got them wet. When they were dry I could wipe their residue/dust off no problem.

What are you using these pads for? Daily, Track, Autocross?

If you are only street driving the car, then stick with stock pads. I'm running Hawk HP+ right now, because I track my car atleast once a month. I don't Daily drive my R. The noise isn't too bad, with my OEM rims the dust is quite noticeable, but comes off easily. I run Spoons on the street, so I don't notice dust at all.

Whatever you do don't run Hawk Blue's on the street, at cold temperatures they will eat you rotors like no tomorrow. Race application only!

Once I kill these Hawk's I'm going back to stock for the street and will equipe myself with seperate rotors and race specific pads for the Circuit.

from first hand experience, the SAME applies to the HP+ compound
even tho the dust is not corrosive like the BLUES, the rest applies

do yourself a favor: call Andie @ Cobalt and order a set of GT Sport pads. they bite hard, have a 50-1200F temp range (good for daily and track duty), and don't have uber-corrosive dust as do the Hawks.

I already have OEM pads that I use for street, but I have a track day this weekend and I wanted to get some pads that I'll be using just for the track. The reason I'm asking about the Hawks is this seems to be the only brand that stores around here have.

Thanks again for all the comments.

The new formula GT Sport pads are more of a track pad, with a lot of noise, etc. I loved the old GT Sport, but I'm using the Hawk HP+ while I await Cobalt's introduction of a more streetable pad in the not-too-distant future.

HP+ stops okay but they dust really bad. Get them if you don't care about your front rims turning brown faster than your rear . I personally loved them and the noise didn't bother me but they didn't seem to last as long as I had hoped.

Another option if they're available is the new EBC Redstuff Ceramic. Basically a splitting image of the HP+, but much quieter. However, they dust like mad, but the dust isn't corrosive like the Hawks. I've strayed from the EBC name for a while because of what I'd read on here, but after using both the Hawk HP+ and the Redstuff, I'll choose the EBC any day (keep in mind that this is a new compound from EBC, not the crappy old one)

The dust on the HP+ is not corrosive. No more so than any other pad (and a lot less than the Hawk Blue 9012).
