Default H22a Adj. Cam Gear Question, Adjustment...

It has a fully built head (crower). But no cams, it does have adj. cam gears, headers.. all the bolt ons besides intake manifold and throttle body. ANYWAYS, I was wondering if anyone would know a good place to start for the cams, their stock for now, but can I advance the intake +1/+2 degrees to gain a few extra horse? (With stock cams). Basicly is anyone running stock cam's with adj. cam gears on a h22a, if so, what degrees are the in/ex cams on?

You'll have to get it on a dyno to find any gains from the cam gears.

Advancing the cam will shift the basic RPM range downward. Four degrees of advance (from the original position) will cause the power range to start approximately 200 RPM sooner. Retarding it this same amount will move the power upward approximately 200 RPM.

I knew you have to throw it on the dyno, to get a gain, but anyone have adj. cam gears on their h22a that's been on the dyno? And what are they set at?

i did, and my stock cams liked zero the best

but every motor is different and thats why you need a DYNO. i wouldnt waste your $$ trying to gain power this way, buy some cams first of course you still may not need the gears anyway

Yeah, that sounds about right for a single cam, but we're talking about a DOHC engine here. Moving the intake and exhuast gears seperately can make a bunch of different stuff happen besides moving the powerband...
