MSF is coming up and I've picked up the following:

and....

both of which I love and they are extremely comfortable but here comes the problem and this is where I seek the help of my fellow H-Ters.......
WHAT KIND OF JACKET!!!!!
I've narrowed it down.....

or

or

I like the fiberoptic yellow b/c it makes me extremely visible but I'm worried the color will get old. I love the white on both but then again I really like the corona one b/c of the details and the breathability of the textile. The textile is rated at 660 so it's definately strong. I just want everyone's opinion. Thanks in advance.

personally to me all of those jackets just scream "HEY LOOK AT ME I RIDE A MOTORCYCLE. I CAN GO FAST. IM A BALLER. LOOK! LOOK!" but thats just my opinion. you can get alpinstar, joe rocket, lots of other brand jackets that arnt as loud but have reflective pieces so you are still very visible, even more so than the yellow icon. but
for wanting gear and looking to stay safe.

good you want gear but no offense - those jackets suck *****. buy something leather, and not icon.
and lol at the "textile" being really strong.... dude let me tell you i've been down at 15mph, 45mph and 90mph .. textile doesnt do **** in situations B & C. wear leathers, you'd rather sweat than bleed right?

I agree with the other guy. I bought one of those icon jackets and I regret it. I would rather have a regular black leather jacket from alpinestars or something. Maybe you can get the Jordan Joe rocket jacket.
i think it's awesome that you're gearing up, but at this point i'd like to get it out of your head that Icon is considered gear.
To me, Icon is for people who either need to 1) obey the law, but still want to look "gangsta fresh" or 2) like the image of wearing gear, but still want to look "gangsta fresh."
Icon has been known to protect people in accidents, but from my limited experience in person with Icon gear, it's garbage. I can't say anything for their helmets, i just don't like the brand. It's like wearing ecko gear when you ride.
Icon is for a particular group of people who are more "urban" than others, and they want to maintain that look while riding, rather than altering their lifestyle to better suit riding. I.e. i started buying only black t-shirts (because it hides sweat better) and started cutting my hair short so my helmet would be more comfortable. Those are just a couple little adjustments. I also am ok with wearing power ranger suit around town and being sweaty as all hell.

funny you should say that. that is exactly how i know its time for a hair cut, when it gets in my eyes with my helmet on. yeah im a scrub, couldnt care less about my appearance, but if you looked like me you'd give up to.
and isnt icon not made by a gear company but some online store that sells parts and accessories and contracts some other no name companies to make its gear under the icon name?

I personally like some of Icon's gear, there leather Motorhead jacket is very simple and protective. I don't mind the leather pursuit jacket either...there non-leather jackets are flashy and don't protect as well but to say Icon isn't considered gear doesn't seem correct.
OP I know a lot of people who don't like wearing white gear because it gets so dirty quickly (bug splatters, etc).

I got a free leather Icon jacket from a friend of mine. I think it's fine and the people saying it isn't considered gear are the same people on the gixxer-hater bandwagon.

Well dude, thanks for that in depth analysis of your jacket! What makes you think it's 'fine'? It's still in one piece after you've put it on and taken it off a couple times? It fits? OH - I bet I know - the zippers still work, right!?
I was going to ask.. when was the last time you had to test that thing? Sub-rate materials and below par stiching aren't going to save you when you go splat on the interstate. Not that I I would know or anything.

I like the Corona jacket style-wise.
When the hell is Miller Lite gonna start sponsoring? Would be nice to get a little something back for all I've invested in their "products".

imo if i had to pick.... go with the grey and white, yellow jacket looks like a girls jacket, and the corona jacket, just a bit too cheesy, and loud... alpinestars, has my crash test approval, if it means anything...

I really don't think they'd be in business and have such a well known name...every cycle shop I've been to has carried their gear. Obviously everyone has their own experiences and biases but I've seen bad reviews with many of Aplinestars jackets as well (including their new $700 ones). I've only had experience with the Motorhead jacket and it's very thick leather, stitching is great, and it fits perfect...and that's all I really want in a jacket whether it be Dainese, Alpinestars, or Icon.

as for the icon gear being complete crap i would disagree. i've talked to 2 local shops both of which carry a*, icon, shift and others and both have said that the icon leather jacket is the best. ya some of their stuff is "gangster" but personally the jackets ive listed aren't. I want white or bright colors b/c i want to be seen by cagers, not to be a showoff. I'm trying to do this right by selecting bright colors which is recommended by msf and I get bashed for trying to show off. There's a chart that I have on my comp. at home that shows that 660 textile that is in the corona jacket is almost as strong as leather, I'll post it once I get home. Keep the opinions and advice coming, I appreciate it. If you don't like the choices then please list other stuff from other companies that are comparable.
As for the white getting dirty, its not really a big deal. Leather needs to be cleaned a reconditioned fairly often anyways in order to maintain its strength. I read that leather will lose 20% of its strength each time it gets wet and dries out without reconditioning it. So in that respect I think from a maintenance standpoint the textile would be better and also b/c everyone here seems to hate on icon.
The helmet however I'm sticking with, it is DOT and Snell certified so I'm assuming if it can pass those tests it will pass the test when it comes between my head and the concrete (if the event should arise).
By the way, I'm picking up the strap on back protector and knee/shin guards tomorrow as well. You can never have too much gear.

Icon Textile jackets feel like the protection is not there i have one and only wore it one time. It feels to thin to actually protect your body at maybe a 25mph spill. Get a leather jacket if your just starting to ride don't look like a burnt hotdog.

I was never considering an icon textile jacket, it's a joe rocket one and it has the highest rated textile out there. It's rated at 660 and the next step up would be kevlar/textile that is rated at 1000 and is twice as strong as leather and twice the price as well.
I understand the argument of leather being more protective but where I will be riding (to and from college) the speed limit is 35 mph and the temp. is 90 deg. with 90% humidity so leather doesn't seem to appealing. Not to mention the fact that I don't want to have to sit in my architecture studio smelling of sweat for 4 hours.
I'M SO CONFUSED!!!!!

Most if not all helmets are DOT certified, you'll be ok from a safety perspective with any of them. People pay premiums for fit, features, venting graphics and build quality.
Jacket, get a summer/perforated leather one. IT'll be hot at the light, but once you get moving you'll be just as cool as wearing textile with much more protection.

The icon jackets aren't too bad and for a replica jacket, the corona doesn't scream ricky racer. However it does have those dunlop patches - something to consider if the bike your riding has bridgestones. I think corona is an overpriced beer, but hey people suck it down. I would look at perforated leather, you don't sweat too much when your moving.
I think the Icon Motorhead jacket is pretty good quality, and I plan on getting one (white or all black). Compared to the a* tz1 I also tried on, I think the quality is better. I've talked to a few guys who have been down wearing the motorhead and they say it saved their *** and held up very well. I think one guy was on this forum, and got run over wearing the jacket and said it prevented a lot of injuries.
Just try some jackets on before you buy, find one that fits you well and offers good protection.

How about this thing.....http://www.newenough.com/browse/view...ct_images/1172
I can get it for 400, should I go ahead and commit to it?

muuuuuch better choice... but just make sure you get one that fits tight, if you get one thats loose it will be useless. if you go down it will ride up your back and you'll get road rash everywhere you thought you wouldnt (your torso mainly).
having a tight fitting jacket is a great idea. however, there is a little slack on that these days because most motorcycle jackets come with an adjustable waist band of some sort.
