Im tryin to find out how u can tell the difference between the SOHC VTEC ZC and the SOHC VTEC-E ZC engine, just bought an engine to put in my '95 CX w/ a S20 trans and a P28 motor has 80-90k on it got everything mounts harness, dizzy, and various other parts along with it (for $400 think its a good buy?) just wanna make sure its the right engine. It has the cover that says Honda but dosnt say VTEC dont know if that makes a difference. I seen a thread about this but i cant find it now.... guess ill keep searching google and what not till i get some replies ... thanx in advance OH let me know if u guyz want some picks b4 and after swap (i ask cuz this is kinda common dont know if u want another thread, and the car isnt too pretty right now but thatll change soon)

 

No, the block just says "ZC". That's why it's called ZC. If it said D16Z6, we'd call it a D16Z6.

Take off the valve cover.

 

yep the block just sayz ZC and most is written in Japanese so i cant really tell what it is. Are there any true ways to tell the difference between the VTEC-E and the VTEC besides just feeling the power after the engine is in... plz help

I thought the vtec-e from japan had the duel vtec spool valves

 

swap startin on monday wish me luck

 

opened up my S20 trans noticed there was metal shavings on the magnets found out it was my Dif. so imma take the dif outta the CX trans throw it in the S20 trans and hopefully the swap goes cool from there.
