Default Should I buy this GS-R?

EDIT: HERES ANOTHER:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/car/372237282.html
I know better to look for salvage title cars but around here A LOT OF them ARE. This guy recently dropped his price to 6000$ It got a new transmission, I heard that new transmission means a bad thing. I got a CF Hood, not really a fan of that. Some ugly curbed rims, I want the blades. And I believe he has a cheap eBay looking dual tip exhaust. I think this one might have been in a accident because he said the hood was damaged so that is why he got the CF HOOD. < Sounds weird to me. However this car is more local and I can possibly check it out.

Tell me what you guys think now.

THIS GS-R IS OFF MY LIST. DON'T NEED TO REPLY TO THIS. THANKS.

It's a 1999 GS-R in SSBP. It carries a Salvage Title (from Theft, I believe). It currently has 109,xxx Miles. Says to be new paint job (Good or Bad?). Has Grey Leather seats that are pretty worn. It is missing a driver side side skirt. The side markers are in the wrong spot. It is lowered with Tokico Blue shocks. The car doesn't look bad in the pictures. The paint doesn't reflect really clear, its all blurry and smudged looking.

Here is the link to photos:

Here is the link to Carfax

I believe there was a ERROR when the 2nd owner was registered. The 45,000 became a 42,000 when I believe it should be 47,000 but the DMV made error reading it[?]

Tell me what you guys think.

I don't think it got into an accident. The carfax says it might have because it is Salvage. But who knows, it could have been in one.

Were you thinking of buying this car?

how is it lowered with shocks?

well first of all how much does he want? i personally dont think salvaged title cars are worth much. my friend paid well over $7k for his gsr in mint condition with a salvaged title and i dont think its worth it.

a lot of insurance companies dont give **** back for a salvaged title car if it gets in a wreck.

I don't know, he says its lowered with the tokico blues. He wants around 6200. But of course I will try lowering it.

personally i would pay $4k tops for that. i got my '94 gsr for $4800 with a clean title, body, motor, interior, and the whole nine yards with 124k miles. now i know mines is older with more miles BUT $6200 for a salvage titled gsr is asking for too much.

everytime i see a car for sale thats salvaged and says "new paint" makes me think that they're trying to cover up for an accident they were in =/

yea that thing deffenitly has gone through some rough times hah. The entire interior is from a 4 door gsr or some other car, because 2 doors dident have grey leather interior, from my knowledge. The paint does look blury, witch means who ever painted it dident do to good of a job. And seeing its repainted that probably means something bad, such as an accident or major body damage done ect. It can be lowered on just tokico blues so u need to check into that. And carfax says there was some odometer fraud. Usally carfax is right, so i would trust it. Some someone must of messed with the odometer, unless they got a new one and it had lower miles on it. I have a feeling when that car was stolen most of the car was taken besides the motor because the motor dosent look like its been taken out before. if i were you i wouldent buy it, and 6200k is way to much for a salvage title. i bought my SSBP gsr with 160k for 4,000. Still runs great with no problems. Bought it with a clean title and pretty much stock. Now your going to pay a little more for the color because that is a rare color, but seeing its been repainted, it dosent matter anymore.

i Say go for it man, just talk him down a wee bit. 6200 isnt all that bad. Because it is a 99. but still talk him down to 5500 or at least 6k

I agree. Not a good deal. If it was under 4K I would consider it...... if there was no damage.

Car looks pretty clean. $6200 seems fair. It's still a GSR, Motor alone is worth 3k on the streets. Fenders have vin sticker, so if they match the car, there goes the thoery of accidents, check the rest vin stickers. There are plenty of "clean title" cars in the streets that are in worse conditions that this one, but since it never gets reported, it goes unnoticed. Check the car out and make your choice.

well of course the swap goes for around $3k if its sold separately. parting out a car is almost always a better investment than selling it whole. fact is a salvage titled car isnt worth as much as a clean title car in the same condition. and hes selling it as if it does have a clean title. think if it was stolen and the cops got ahold of it. it wont be yours anymore. and also insurance isnt going to give you **** if something were to happen.

You won't find a clean title SSBP GS-R for that price. A Clean Title 98-01 GSR is worth way more than 6k, especially in mint ball conditions. The car is worth whatever the buyer wants it to be worth. Even salvaged is still worth a decent chunk of change, because it's a GS-R. As for the insurance factor, it's funny they are the ones who sell these cars back to the public.

See theres a lot of pros and cons of this car. Many of my friends said its not really worth it. Few say it looks like a good buy if I can lower the price more.

I really think the prices depend on the area you live. Around here, the bay area, i believe car prices are high, just like gas prices. I see many gs-r going for 6-9K around here and many of them have over 100K miles Salvage titled and some even modded distasteful if you know what i mean...

I had many thoughts about this, first i was serious, then i decided not to go look at it, then i thought about it again because it was for sale again, then i decided not to, now its the same.
I know there is more GS-R out there that clean so I decided not to check that car out. I'm in no hurry either.

I dont think its worth to get it for that price. Look around, and you'll find something.
