Default 3" collector really worth it on a Greddy header?

i currently have a Greddy header (amongst other things) and ive been tossing the idea of getting a 3" collector welded on and also getting another 02 sensor bung welded on so i can get a wideband. i talked to my friend who has only been welding for a few months about it and he said it would be hard for him to do the collector but the 02 bung should be no problem.

at this point, i dont think i care enough about making more power unless its like a night and day difference (for the better of course) between the headers current collector and a 3" collector. but what i do REALLY need is to get it re-tuned, which id like to do by the end of the year.

so basically, should i do the collector mod or not? ive read people saying its a good mod to do, but is it really THAT good?

oh and also, can someone point me to a website that sells 02 bungs?

eBay test pipes already have a hole threaded for an extra o2.

3" is too big unless you are going to be heavily modded which it doesn't sound like you are.

i dunno what you consider heavily modded, but the only thing left for me to do is internals.

well, your current exhaust is 2.25" right? if you were gonna go with a 3" exhaust, then i'd say yea do it. But i dont think 3" is gonna benefit you anymore than 2.25" will solely because of the exhaust size being 2.25"

just my opinion.

you could just get a PLX and just replace your stock 02 with the wideband since you and mimic the narrowband signal AND get the wideband signal on the PLX's unlike the AEM where have to chose. That would save you from having to weld that 02 bung in.

mod your collect to whatever size your current/new exhaust pipping is going to be, obviously blake knows something we don't so I'm not going to say 3 inchs is too big for you but mostly people mod it out to 2.5

but if you have a 2.25 exhaust mod the collect isn't going to be a night and day difference unless you change out all the pipping to match whatever the collect is modded out to, it's just going to move your restriction like 3 inchs down the pipe, it still gonna be restricted by the exhaust pipping.

oh crap i dunno why i was saying 3 inches lol, i meant 2.5 like what other people have been doing to "off the shelf" headers

anyways, i wont be doing it, we're just going to weld in a new bung and call it a day

thanks everyone

and Jake, you deliver? lol

thats all good and fine and all, but you still haven't given a reason as to why you know that 3" is too big for his setup. You got anything?
