Default so i expierenced brake fade yesterday

for the first time... i had to do a lot of running around yesterday in the 110+ degree heat. towards the end of the day, i had mad brake fade yo! so this is my question... was it the pads/rotors heating up(this is what i think) or was the fluid begining to boil? so you know, all pads/rotors are oem.

im not planning on doing and brake upgrades for a long time, i guess i just really wanted to know what was fading... the pads right?

yes it was the pads and possibly the rotors...i don't think the fluid was boiling (but maybe it was ???) this will happen no matter what when you are in really hot temperatures...just don't do any heavy braking and you should be ok!

Rotors were hot, pads were overheating, fluid was coming close to its respective wet and dry boiling points.

you guys think i should bleed the system just in case it boiled a lil bit?

my dad thinks i should just flush out the system and put new fluid because i have never done that as long as ive had the car any, so now is as good as time as any.

What pads were you using?
It was probably the fluid and yes you should bleed if you haven't in a while.

Holy **** yes you should do a full bleed and put some good **** in there. Try and get ATE super blue or ATE Gold Type 200 or Motul RBF 600.

Probably not. A chain called Olympic Auto Parts around here carries ATE. A more specialized auto parts store (maybe even NAPA?) or speed shop should carry it. You can probably find Motul at a motorcycle shop/dealer.

If you need a high performance fluid that a major chain carries which is also cheap, try Valvoline Synthetic Synpower (I think thats what its called). It is sold at Pep Boys and costs $7.99 per bottle. 2 bottles are enough for a flush.

You probably only faded the pads but if you havenot changed out the fluid do a complete flush, I use the valvoline syn. You can not fade a rotor, nope.
