im pretty sure you its easier to remove the motor and trans seperately, although some people have gotten both out as one piece.

both at the same time through the bottom by removing the subframe.

3 hours for the IM, were you guys drinking?

Easiest to remover the head while leaving the IM on, can be done in 2 hours.

Pull the whole thing out. There's not much space to work while it's in the car.

yeah.. so we found out cylinder 3 (2nd cylinder closest to the crank puley) had some piston slap going on.

Where is everyone sending there short blocks to get sleeved and built up with pistons/rods etc. we are local to King.. but they are very pricey..

Motor ran on regular oil for about 2000 miles. The car was sitting around for a long time and I think that contributed to the cams getting screwed up.

yeah. that and the grounds on the spark plugs fell off once.. so the sides of the pistons are chewed up...

that wasnt cyl one...but that was the piston that was giving us noise..

well it sat for a long time.. so the oil probably dripped away from the top of the cam... its only on the intake cam on one side....

ohh yeah, are the valves supposed to be painted blue and yellow? or is that a sign that someone has been in the engine b4?

It all depends on what kind of setup you are going for to pick your cams. Forced induction, all motor. I have heard the comptech is junk, do a search in s2ki.com for the r200 rear end conversion, that will definately hold up.

Yeah it is the non-turbo 300zx. It will take your beating though. I heard the comptech wasn't that great through people on s2ki.com
