is this your first bike? because as popular a mod this is, i could only imagine a person with zero motorcycle experience would not know about fender eliminators. if it is your first bike i wouldnt even bother spending the money, save it for frame sliders, new plastics insurance and advil.

well what your looking for is called a fender eliminator.

now 1000rr is a horrible first bike. insurance is gonna be insane, you will make a begginers error and drop the bike be in standing still or at 60mph it will happen. there is way more power in that bike then you will ever be able to use so if you are going around a corner and accidentally drop the clutch, or give it too much gas, that pavement is going to come up at you faster than you will know whats goin on.

obviously you are going to do what you want to do but please do yourself and everyone else on the road a favor and make sure you have taken the msf, have good quality gear, good insurance, and for the first year or so you keep it under 10K rpms and no more than half throttle. trust me it seems like a lousy request but there will be plenty of fun for you even within those restrictions and you will be far more likely to not end up in the hospital. good luck and ride safe.

Everyone says that its not there first ride on a bike or i have self control. If its your first bike don't get a liter its going to bite you in the ***. You will go down but i would rather have a little margin of era bigger bikes are less forgiving.

2nd dibs.

no health insurance, 1000rr as first bike, 7 miles of riding experience--this has the makings of a classic.

i have dibs on the organs. No health insurance + motorcycle, that just screams darwin.
Honestly though, it doesn't matter how "easy on her" you go, a 1000rr is a terrible bike to learn to ride on the street. Self control doesn't mean crap, there's going to be some time when you get the urge to twist that throttle and it's going to get you in trouble. Not to mention panic situations. At least start on a 600. Still way too fast for a lot of people, but at least it's better.

And to answer the original question, a fender eliminator is what the mod is referred to and there's tons of them for sale.

Don't get a 1000rr because your friend let you ride his bike. Get road experience and fine the bike that's good for you. Then get a fender eliminator kit I don't think your friend will pay your bills if you get hurt.

Well I did ride an R6, and I did like that bike alot but it was the first bike I have ever road but he has all kinds of stuff done to it. But I just realy loved the 1000rr

If I wreck its no big deal unless I get killed or hurt somebody else that would be bad I have taken some hard crashes before dirt and payment......

I pretty much have my mind made up....

Oh yea Im keepin the spare parts, But I'll let you know about the Organs

and R6 with mods isn't that far off from a regular R6. I think you'll find that stock 600s are extremely powerful. I myself went from an F4i, to an RC51, and then to an SV650. And i wouldn't go backwards at all. The SV650 is an awesome bike, and it only makes 70 something horsepower. You don't need 150+hp, especially as your first bike, and i have no doubt that the 1000rr is way more capable than you are, no offense.

None taken.... I know If I baby the bike for a long wail I won't have a problem...
I will wreck!!! It happens I have been in a lot of wrecks before... My back is destroyed for life, and I have separated muscle from the bones in my left leg that will never go back to the way it was... going fast and wrecking it all part of having fun....

But the reason I am buying the bike is because I just started a job that its about 40 minutes away... all highway, and my car eats gas like a V8 on the highway....

Plus since I started ridding my Friends bikes I really want one....

600s get even better gas mileage than 1000s

My SV gets 45 on average

yikes! Listen I've been riding dirtbikes all my life too, and trust me my SV650 can still get me into trouble awfully fast, that makes less than half of the hp of a cbr1000rr. The street and dirt are fairly different scenes. While dirt definatly helped with clutch work, and to an extent throttle control they are just two different beasts all together. You should definatly start on something smaller and get full coverage, no matter how good a deal you get the replacement parts/body parts are going to be more expensive.

I have been averaging 39-42mpg on the gsxr.

Im not going to tell you what to do, but heres my look on it. I got a bike that I felt was reasonable. All the people I would be riding with have nothing larger than a 636, so no way in hell did I need a 750 or 1000...not that I wanted one anyway. So I got a 04 gsxr600. And Im very glad I did. The power is unimaginable. Test riding a bike will not get you a feel for it, you have to put hours of seat time until you can START to understand the bike just a little. I was looking at a sv650, or the I4 600's and im very glad I got my 600. If I could go back I would do the same thing all over again, the power is great but its forgiving. I never rode a 750 nor 1000 so I cant really compare. But if the 600 can lift the wheel with a throttle crack in 1st and 2nd, I can only imagine what the 1k would do.

Is there even a point in riding a 1000 sportbike on the street? When would you ever use that engine?

a 600rr is a smarter choice, but you're gonna get turned upside down on it now that the 07's are on the market.

honestly, i'd rather pay 8000 for a used 07 600rr if you're gonna go that route.

actually i'd rather pay 1200 for a used GS500E, then in a year, spend 6300 on an 07 600rr, but that's just me.

remember dude, it's not what you ride, it's THAT you ride. so the bike isn't nearly as important as the person riding it.
