Parking lights and turn blinkers on jdm side markers
I want to confirm it is the proper wiring. Im in the middle of putting in my JDm side markers. ive been searching for the past half hour for the proper wiring. I made some PM's and someone said i should wire both the red and green wire together into the power wire for my side marker. is this correct?
EDIT: This is for people searching and stumbled across this thread for how to wire the side markers because there are lack of answers out there.
I have a 2 wire(black/red) harness for my side markers.
Go into your turn signal assembly and you will want to play with the wires with the 3 wire connection(red/green/black)
Red=parking lights/constant on
Green=Blinkers
Black=Ground (you dont need it if you are running both parking lights and blinkers though. don't ask why i dont know why either.)
Parking lights only: Hook up the ground/black wire on your turn signal to the ground/black wire on your side marker. then hook up the red wire on your turn signal onto the red wire of your side marker.
Turn signals only(JDM/OEM method): Hook up the ground/black wire on your turn signal to the ground/black wire on your side marker. Next hookup the green wire on your turn signal to the red wire on your side marker.
Both parking lights and blinking when turn signals are used: DO NOT cut the black/ground wire on your turn signal!! connect the red wire on the turn signal to any wire on the side marker. then connect the green wire on the turn signal to the remaining wire on the side marker.

No.
You should wire one of the leads of the side marker to the positive wire of your turn signals, and wire the other lead of the side marker to a ground.

If you want to make the sidemarkers function as both parking lights and turn signals, similar to the wedge bulbs in the side of 94-97 Integra front bumper lights, you would splice one wire into the turn signal power wire, and the other into the parking light power wire. Then they would flash with turn signals with parking lights off, come on steady with parking lights on, and then flash alternately from turn signals with the parking lights on.
However, this is not the "correct" OEM function for the sidemarkers. From the factory they came wired as turn signals only.

I don't know wire colors, but I do know that to make them function like that (incorrectly), you have to connect them as I described above. Each wire connects to a power wire, but when you turn on the parking lights, the sidemarker light is actually grounded through the turn signal bulb to the turn signal's ground wire.

I tried both red and green wire together into my power wire for the side markers and they remained constant. so i opted for the turn signal only. I may redo that later on cause its about to rain here.
its on my 98+ front. the side markers are single filament...and the turn signals are dual...does it matter? Ill try again may later this week. hook up all green red and power wire for the side marker together correct? does the pakring like power wire stay on when the turn signals are engaged? or do they turn off so the signals can blink?
EDIT: there are three wires to the turn signal bulb. red wire(parking lights) green wire (blinker lights/correct jdm side markers) and the black wire(ground) both parking and blinkers are grounded through a single ground wire. hope that helps if any.

Haha, you PM'd me. Kinda of caught me off guard seeing I don't have an Integra anymore.
If I could remember correctly. If you have a 94-97 you could easily tap into the 194 power wire, and ground. That would have your sidemarkers on, and would blink when you signal.
-edit-
Ah, ok. If I remember correctly you can't just tap into the turn signal. I'll have to ask my friend.

Why people want to wire them so they stay constantly lit is beyond me.

yea sorry, i just saw you were active in a post about the side markers so i PM'd a bunch of people.
But i have a 99 integra which has the 3 wires coming out of it. I wish it was that simple

If you tap one sidemarker wire into the green wire, and the other into the red wire (leave the black wire alone) then the sidemarkers should function as you desire. Yes, it is that simple.
I remember my old Camry had separate rectangular rear sidemarker lights on the rear quarter panels. They stayed lit with the tail lights (like the wedge bulbs in Integra tail lights). I re-wired them using the method I described to make them function as both markers and turn signals. Combined with my aftermarket fender sidemarkers, I had 8 turn signals on the car
