b20 turbo question
Im about to drop in a b20 on my hatch and im planning to turbo it. I know that low compression is good for boost.. am i ryt?? plss correct me if im wrong im still trying to get into this stuff. My question is , wat do i have to change to make my motor low compression. I know i could change the piston for low compression but is that it? BTW i wanna have 250+ Hp. Any links or suggestions would be a really great help. thnks
The B20 is already low compression (compared to other honda engines, anyway). Compression is a complicated problem because there's so many things that will change it, if only slightly. Even using a thinner head gasket will increase the compression, I believe adjusting the cam gear can also change compression.
In truth, there isn't really a reason to lower the compression on the B20. Boost and compression are somewhat similar; if you lower the compression, you need more boost to get the same power.
This said, you shouldn't have any trouble getting 250hp out of a b20 turbo, especially if you use a B18 head. Using a B16 or B18 head with the b20 is called a CRVTEC setup, and it's usually done for high performance with turbocharging.
