Default ECU question

I was wondering if a F22b1 P0A manual ecu will work for a F22b1 automatic?? or do i have to run a automatic F22b1 P0A ecu?

im not 100% but i think that the pcm (ecu) controls the torque converter lockup, so an auto will work on the manual but i dont think the manual will work as well on an auto..

not 100% though.. anyone else?
