Default odometer jump?

i have a 95 civic ex. bought it at 77 thousand miles about a year ago, just recently looked at the odometer and all of a sudden the odometer has reads about 190,000. there is no way i drove 100k + miles since ive had the car, all of my maintenance records have the milage between 77 and 90k, the last one is from a few months ago. i just noticed the 1 in front about a week ago, its a lot lighter than the other numbers but its there. anyone else experience this?

So next are you going to ask us how to roll back the odometer?

I recently did my own oil change (I've probably done a dozen or more over the years) in my 2006 Civic EX. Afterward I used the usual button to reset my change oil percentage back to 100%. Everything worked fine until I noticed my odometer had changed from 97000 to 156000!! What the heck!? Looking back (including scanning this forum) I couldn't find a reason for this happening. I didn't really want to drive 50 miles to my Honda dealer so I tried calling them on the phone. I spoke to the service manager and for a moment he had absolutely no idea what might have happened and said that just wasn't possible. I replied that it WAS possible because it had just happened to me. Just as I thanked him for his time and was about to hang up, he said "Wait a minute. You didn't accidentally hit the adjacent reset button and change from miles to kilometers did you?" Thinking back at the before & after odometer numbers and my dwindling mind I sheepishly replied that was likely what happened - because I have actually changed the speedometer units when driving in Canada. I hung up, did a check and guess what? I called him back shortly thereafter and thanked him very much for helping me find the solution - for free - and told him I was buying him a drink next time I saw him.
