Take your distributor apart and check your rotor and coil for wear and/or heat markings

Do you have an MSD ignition on it or even a coil or any type of aftermarket ignition on it?

Also you stated it is a brand new distributor? Is it OEM NEW or junk *** Distributor King or other garbage?

Check your coil, ICM and then the coil driver.

See if you cant get an OEM distributor (OEM sensors not DK sensors) from a friend to test

<Edit>
Also. Get a log trying to start the car with cam-crank, coil #1, coil #2, TP2PER, Timing Errors, Stat Sync and Engine Speed

Yeah try an OEM Honda distributor, those remans are junk! Also AEM alot of times is very finicky with a stock distributor too, it is in the pick ups I hear. But again get a friend to let you put their dizzy on your car see if it fixes it.

Also you never answered whether you have an MSD or other ignition on it or even an external coil. The more info you provide the easier and quicker we can help you

I have had good luck with 1999/2000 Si distributors. The Distributor King pickups are horrible

Can you get a log trying to start the car with cam-crank, coil #1, coil #2, TP2PER, Timing Errors, Stat Sync and Engine Speed. Might as well turn Injector 1 - 4 off while you do it

I had a similar problem. I had the car tuned in San Jose went to a race in palmdale started the car in the pits everything ran fine. Shut it down since it was early in the day. Went back to start the car later and it wouldn't start. Couldn't figure it out thought maybe the pump was vapor locked but it was fine.

Checked almost everything else on the car and couldn't find a problem. My buddy and I pushed the car back on the trailor.

Drive 3 hours back home and the car started like a champ and drove it off the trailer and parked it in the garage.

I know I didn't help you any but I feel your pain

I have a feeling if I would have tried to start my car 1 hr later it probably would have. I was so frustrated that I had driven 3 hrs to race and it wouldn't start.

It was crazy cause we had it on the trailer the night prior making sure that everything was good and the car ran fine. Then at the track it said screw it. I figured the car didn't want to race so I wasn't going to press my luck and have something bad happen.

The car has since made multiple 10 sec passes without any changes. Still never got the chance to run at Palmdale though

Check your idle program too. I had mine "re-write" itself one night and my engine would idle around 2700 cold and slowly come down once it warmed up. It was really weird and difficult to start.

His idle is dependant upon his Idle Target Base Table and Idle% vs Target Table in AEMPro. Though I dont know why anyone would have any of the table set to 2000RPM. Could have a coolant temperature sensor issue. Idle% vs Target Table too high, etc.

I know this sounds real stupid but maybe your main relay is going bad. We had 2 civics that had that problem and we couldn't figure it out until the finals at a Import Showdown where we had to forfit the race b/c the damn car wouldn't start.

Generally in hot temps or after driving for a while it'll start to act up when restarting a car. If the relay is rediculously hot then I'd change it out. I don't know how the 99-00 Si's are but both of our cars were 92-95 EGs.
