-100 on the dumb comments .... so if anyone would know why the car would act like its in gear even though the car is in neutral would be greatly appreciated.

He didnt try to press the gas.. as soon as the car started to stall/drive forward he pressed the clutch in and turned it off.

Were you trying to say its roll like its in neutral but its really in gear? and vice versa?

Have you checked linkage or anything of the such? Or maybe a bad bushing in the shifter making it seem to not be in gear?

That's what I'm thinking he meant.

If that's the case, the clutch isn't engaging - start w/ bleeding ur clutch lines.

If you didn't make a mistake and that's really what ur saying - learn how to drive a manual transmission.

already checked the linkage and its fine.. its not the clutch becuase the clutch is doing its job.. when you hold the clutch down its ok but when you let off the clutch even while its in neutral the car starts to move like its in gear. and guys please no more retarded remarks...tech only

i think i know what your talking about cause my car also has that same problem. for me its worse when it is cold outside but the e-brake will still hold the car in place. this happened to me after i got my new clutch installed. but thats not the problem... the problem is the gear lube in the tranny is too thick but when my car warms it stops moving.

o god ive never heard of this problem WTF do you guys do to your cars.

anyways you can disregard that comment but let me get this straight. when the car is in neutral at a dead stop if you release the clutch than itll start moving forward and stall if you dont press the clutch in? so does 1st-5th gear and reverse work fine? the car HAS to be in gear for it to move like that. theres no other explanation. if you release the clutch and give it gas in neutral will it just acclerate like normal? if it does than what gear is it in?

For some reason shift detent ***** are coming to mind, without em the car "could" kinda float into gear on its own because of the way the shift piece works.

To eliminate the forks, run it through all the gears to see if you can get them, make sure to "feel" the parts, you will slide over the synchro ring, and then it will continue downward onto the gear dogs, that is how it should feel. If it is any different, there could be a problem with the shift forks.

If you think this is the case, take the shift and move it around and see if it moves and equal amount up and down and that it centers itself correctly. Move it side to side and feel for resistance in the shifter (this would be the shift piece colliding with a shift fork that is not sitting at the right height)

Has anyone messed with that transmission?

No one has messed with the tranny that we know of.. he bought the car like this..He was told that one of the axles were broken, so he never drove the car.. i bought some stge 1 axles and installed them and the car still did the same thing in neutral.. So im thinking that the guy ripped him off and sold him a car with a bad tranny..
