I'm not sure if this will get moved or not but I figured I'd post it here anyways. I was driving back from worthington (a city near where I live) around 10:30 on the freeway and I see about 200 flares (litterally) blocking off 3 lanes of the freeway for a good 100 yards with about 10 state troopers with lights on, an ambulance, and a news crew. As I'm driving by I see massive skid marks on the road and see a teal Dodge Neon spun out sideways with every body panel crunched in with heavy front end damage. That made me just be like , then as I'm passing all the cop cars, scattered glass, and such I faintly can see a yellow car flipped over on it's roof. I was like "don't even tell me", sure enough it was a Yellow ITR rolled over sitting on it's roof. From the amount of debris scattered along the road which was blocked off I could tell the car had flipped multiple times, it looked as if it could have flipped 8x's in the amount of space of scattered debris. I was in shock at this point wondering if the occupants of the car were alright and what exactly had happened to cause the accident. Continuing I see a Mitsubishi Eclipse that looked like it had been side swiped but it looked like just a scratch compared to the other 2 cars I had previously seen. After I got home I waited until 11 and turned the news on the channel of the crew that was at the scene, the whole damn broadcast mentioned nothing about a wreck which kind of angered me because I was still very anxious to find out what had happened. It may not seem that big of a deal to you guys but this was the 2nd to worst accident I have ever seen (the top being a kid from my school when he lost control and smashed into a tree killing himself), another thing that was angering me was the wrecked car because Type-R's are rare in my area with me seeing only about 3 driving around my area in a year!!! Seeing accidents like this help to let you know that you are not invinceable especially when you see a car of the same Make/Model torn to shreds. If I hear anything else about what happened I will post a follow up.

One other accident story that I will briefly touch upon. This kid from my school was driving an Olds Alero down a 15 MPH street yesterday going 70 around this prolonged left curve where he lost control, smashed into the curb, and then his car jumping forward over the curb and straight into the center of a pond where he managed to somehow get out uninjured (not even a single scratch) and his car sinking to the bottom within 3 minutes (bye bye car). The odd thing is that his father is a cop for the Dublin Police Dept. where we live. I wonder what I would do if my son did that and I was a cop on the cities task force, let alone what I would do if my son did that in the first place. Yeah, ok I'm gonna stop now becasue this is a very long post already.

i would of pulled over and tryed to buy it from him for super cheap!! An extra ITR motor would be a get thing to have!

Yeah, I was talking to my friend and said I'd really like to find out what they're going to do with the car and if the engine is good. I wouldn't be suprised at all if I found out they were infact street racing. Either way I hope nobody was seriously injured.

 

Damn, you guys are scavengers. A guy wrecks his car and you guys talk about buying his parts.

If the car did indeed roll over like 8 times, I'm sure they got a more than a little hurt. I hope they're alright though....

theres no such thing as ITR's that end up in wreck yards for people to buy a legit motor for their hybrid. if its an ITR it must be stolen

Damn, that's sad, I hope everyone involved in the accident it ok. I saw a car explode yesterday on the highway, it was a sad sight, because I knew whoever was in the car must have died.

 

OUCH, sad....another itr down in this nation.....MAN DOWN!!!!

 

I know a guy who has about 3 ITRS and they are theft recoveries, to roll-overs, even a flooded one. Dont say they are rarer than finding an original elvis album or something.

 

A high school kid with an ITR just screams opportunity for a hybrider. Esp. if the kid didn't get hurt/killed, I see nothing wrong w/ being interested in buying the wreck. It's legit, so who cares? The inevitable simply happened.

Sorry, nothing shocking about a high school kid totalling a nice car.

Hey everybody, just to let you know, that ITR was one of our very own from Honda-Tech, so have some sympathy.

The car belonged to Chris (cmillz) on this board, although he was not the driver of the vehicle. I met Chris yesterday at our college orientation at Miami University, and talked cars with him for a little. I then saw him later Saturday night looking very upset and told me that his younger brother and a friend had rolled his ITR. I don't know the whole story, so we'll just have to wait for Chris to come on and clear things up and let us know what's going on. He lost his ITR and it wasn't even his fault, so have some sympathy for him.

Chris, if you read this thread, I feel bad for ya' and hope that things work out with you and your car this summer. It was nice meeting you at Miami on Saturday, and I look forward to seeing you at school this fall. If you need any help at all working on a hybrid for yourself or anything with your motor/suspension this summer, just send me an e-mail and I would be more than happy to come up on a weekend and help you work on getting back on the road soon. Glad to hear that your brother is okay.
